remote rig on 10.10.10 network
« on: 2018-03-31, 19:09:05 »
trying to configure two remote rigs to control two IC-7100 at our 911 center...downloaded and installed the setup software, configured the first pair to use 10.10.10.8 and 10.10.10.18....that went very well....now the the step says to try to connect to them from a web browser, by using the IP address....when I type 10.10.10.8 in the google chrome, it comes back as not being connected to the internet....which it isnt, I know that, its just on its own internal network....so....assuming I set these up correctly using the setup software, what should the next step be to see if its working?

Did you change the port number on the RRC's web page? If you did, you need to append the URL with
a colon followed by the port number, i.e. 10.10.10.8:1234.

Otherwise, use the Microbit Setup Manager to search for the RRC's on the network. If they are there, then
it will find them. You can then click on the "browse" button to get on the web page.

Make sure that your two sets of RRC's use different port numbers, otherwise it won't work once installed.

If you want my networking checklist that walks you through the installation process, drop me a short mail
at dj0qn (at) darc.de and I will send it to you.

so even though they will have different IP addresses ( I was going to use 10.10.10.7 and 17 for one, and 8/18 for the other) they still need different port addresses ?

Correct, unless you will be using a VPN or are inside of the same network and will never use both
at the same time.

Even so, I would recommend making them different to be on the safe side in the future.

Change to any number that is not already being used in that network. For example, just increment them
from the first set, e.g. 13003-5.

so took one step forward, another step back.....we can ping the units using their assigned ip addresses, but cannot connect to them via the web interface to program them....must have missed a step somewhere?

Did you put the port number in the URL as described above?

Actually, 80 is the default and you don't need to use a suffix. Are you sure that you did not change it to
another port number?

I suggest that you start the Microbit Setup Manager. Then go to the net info/find tab and find the RRC. Then
use the browse button to call it up. At least that way you can't make a mistake.

so, is there a setting wrong somewhere that is preventing us from accessing it via a web interface? We tried both IE and Chrome, neither worked....but then again, we have no internet access, only intranet....
