K3/0 mini - K3S Twin setup Term on K3/0

(1/3) > >>

WC2L:
Hi Folks,
I have a K3/0 mini with a K3S setup as the K3-Twin configuration. I have a factory cable on the K3/0 mini hooked up to the RCC_Remote side. The K3S has a home brew cable hooked up to the RCC_Radio. The radio cable has been checked a couple of times. It is just a simple three wire cable (am I wrong ?).

I know that the "TERM" message usually means that there is a serial communications problem. So is there a way to test either side? The setup is on my local LAN. No firewall or router involved (as far as I know).

To the best of knowledge, both devices have the latest firmware. I am looking for any ideas or suggestions.

Hi Will,

TERM just means that it is in terminal mode and has no standing on it if is working or not. Normally,
the TERM shows-up on the screen for a few seconds and then the remote K3 display shows. You
didn't really say what was not working, so I am I correct to assume that you mean that the TERM does
not go away and the remote K3 display does not show?

If so, this could be due to a number of problems. First of all, check to make sure the remote K3's power
goes on when you hit the control power button. If not, then you need to concentrate of the cable going
to the K3's ACC port. If it does go on, then the problem lies with the CAT signal from the RS232 port.
That could be caused by a number of things, including wrong baud settings in one of the K3's.

Bottom line is we need more details. All of the cable wiring diagrams are in the RemoteRig manual.

The K3/0 mini displays the TERM and does not go away...
Both radios have 38400 set for the baud rate
Both RCCs have 38400, 8, N, 0, CTS/RTS Yes
When I turn on the K3/0, the K3S goes on.

Now that I am re looking at it.. I need to make the cable from the RJ45/Serial to the COM Port on thr RCC!!
Does anyone have that pin out? I know I can figure it out..

OK, I hooked up the K3 Y cable to the RCC and it works!!!
I may be on my way again!!!
Thanks for pointing me in the right direction!!

Glad you found it, Will! I had assumed that you had the serial cable between the K3's RS232
port and the RRC's COM2, since it would not work without it. At least now you found it.
