MC-85 TS-2000 no work. I need ajust?
« on: 2020-10-12, 07:17:45 »
Hi everyone. We already have our prosistel rotor and ts-2000 working perfect. Our micro mc-85 direct to the station was working fine, now, with remoterig, it doesn't work. We understand you do not receive food + for it. Neither does our roger beep inside mc-43s for vhf contests. Do we need any adjustments for both of them to work? I have looked at the manual but it says that mc-60 does not need power, but it does not. We buy cable for kenwood from remoterig. Some help? I use google translator, and it is never perfect. Control-RRC only: JMP-1 is placed behind the TTL connector. With the strap in place a DC
voltage is feed to the microphone element. All ICOM microphones should be DC-feed.
Dynamic microphones like the ones used by Kenwood should not be DC-feed. HEIL
microphones should not be DC-feed either.

As I told you Jordi, in my Control RRC, I have 9v in that grey jumper, when RRC get connected with the other RRC.

I don't know why you don't have 9v at this point.

My MC-80 is working perfectly

Can you explain at wich point do you have 9v?

My mc-85 worked perfectly connected to my ts2000. Also my mc-43s containing a beep from Roger, which needs power.
I follow the instructions in the remoterig manual and now, neither of them works, ha ha ha.
Tomorrow I will continue investigating.
Let's see if someone in the forum finds the light.
I use google translator, and it is not perfect.

I've just noticed that to have 9v on MIC RJ45 connector, depends on the Mode you had selected on your RRC.

Mode 4 = No power supply for MIC

Mode 8 = 9v for MIC (with the grey jumper)

I don't know why RRC can not supply a microphone....

Any ideas or mods for this?

Hello Juan Carlos EA5WA
As you say, when I use Mode4 there is no 8v on pin.
When I use mode 8 if there is voltage on the pin. It should not be like that.
Now I have chosen or selected mode5 ts480 and my roger beep is working, and also my mc-85 works now.
From jumper 2, the voltage drops to 8v instead. without jumper 2 the voltage is 9v.
Everything works now.
I think it should not be like that and remoterig should do that mode 4, for kenwood ts2000 if it had tension in micro.
I have selected mode5 only in CONTROL (not radio) and it works.
It also works if I choose mode5 in Control and Radio. Both devices.
I hope I have helped people who are looking in the forum for information on ts-2000 with mc-60, mc-80, mc-85, or similar, even with roger beep on the mic for vhf contests ha ha ha.
I use a translator.
It is never perfect.

Thanks Jordi,

I will try next evening in mode 5 with my TS-2000.

As you said, it should be helpful for people using Kenwood and preamplified microphones.

Nothing written about this in the user manual....What a pitty

The problem or drawback is that there is no button available to "connect" or "disconnect" remoterig between radio and control and I must auto-connect the menu.
