connecting HRD to a Yaesu FT-897 using RRC-1258
« on: 2015-11-10, 17:15:53 »
I am having difficulties connecting HRD to a Yaesu FT-897 thur the 1258s .  I can tx and rx using the 1258s but can not connect HRD. I have tried the steps given in the manuals and other examples. I have tried all variations of ports and baud rates and still get nothing. I get a red x by the frequency in HRD. I have the latest microbit firmware 2.87 and HRD . HRD does work when I connect directly from the labtop to the radio using the CAT cable . there is only 3 comports to use (com1 com2 and the USB) port on the control RRC to connect HRD.  IF anyone has this type of set up working, please give me step by step instructions and settings  to get it to work.

Hi Tyson,
I'm having the same problem but with an FT2000 Yaesu.
I've had no luck finding anything out and was wondering if you've had any luck

How have you connected the FT-897 to the RRC ? If you connect from Radio-RRC com2 to the radio you need to have a Yaesu CT-62 interface between the RRC and the radio. If you do not use a real Yaesu adapter it must be one which is powered either from the Radio or from and external power. Many "pirate" CT62 is designed steal power from a PC serial ports unused pins, but the RRC do not have those pins so it will not work.

If you make a cable from the TTL jack to the radio like the description in the manual,  no adapter is needed.
