Configuration, RRC 1258 / Mono Audio on RRC1258MkII and K3/0
« on: 2016-03-15, 13:34:41 »
Hi,

I have a K3 (no sub receiver) with 1258Mk2 RRC at the transmitter end and a K3/0 and Heil headset at the home end.

[My problem is that I only get audio on the left speaker of my headphones.

I have tried an number of different K3 settings to no avail.  I spoke with Elecraft who suggested "Make sure in your RADIO RRC Box the Audio Dual RX setting should be set to NO. The K3 Remote must be set for Config Menu > SPKRS 1."

My problem is that I don't have any 'Audio Dual RX' option in my RRC1256Mk2 Radio setup.  I looked at the most recent version manual in the Remote Rig site and that menu option is present, but not in my version (2010 vintage) with current firmware.

Are there hardware differences on the 1258Mk2s that prevent me from getting audio into both sides of the microphone or is it a software configuration issue?

When my TS480SAT remote head fails to connect I get a very loud alternating tone for about 4-5 seconds. The TS480 volume control does not control the volume of the error tone. Is there any way to reduce this volume? If I use the unit in a hotel and it fails to connect i dont want to wake up my neighbour!

TS-480SAT is a good radio for remote rig. See my QRZ.com listing for information on my setup. 73 de vk5cp

Hi Daniel,

I am using a TS480 and am a SteppIR Vertical. I have a cable which goes from the rear of the TS480 directly to the SteppIR box, tracks the frequency perfectly.  Not sure what I will do when I get the SteppIR yagi and the SDR100 box going though!.

Is it possible here is a hardware fault on the RRC?

Should I go back to the previous firmware version?

Can think of much else to do - surely it would work on a LAn without being connected to internet?

The Alpha 87A will work fine over the com port. I have been able to turn my refurbished 87A off and on, change settings and monitor output etc via an RS232 over the internet.

Thanks Mike,

I had tested the cable with an RJ45 joiner. I will check the jumpers and the settings (again).

Hi all,

I am a new Remote Rig User. I am using a 703. I have made up the cable and tested it OK.  I am testing the setup on my LAN and have set the radio up as 192.168.228 and the control as 227. I can browse the radio and the control OK.

My issue is that the 703 wont switch on. The radio is set for 19200.

Do I need to set up port forwarding on the router if both the units are 'behind' the router? If not what should I check?

I want to get it working on my home network before I set it up at the remote shack.
