Hi Roland,

I ran into some issues when trying to order this license.  The first time I tried to use the PayPal option but with a credit card rather than using a PayPal account.  I tried three times and it would not let me complete the order unless I set up a PayPal account which I'm unwilling to do.  I believe that order is #5418 in your system and is still shown as being pending.  I was unable to find a way to cancel it.

Then I used the other option (BBS/Netexept/MasterCard/Visa) and managed to place the order.  However at no time was I given the option of entering in the license id # found on the SIP page of the app.  Your instructions on the web say to enter this ID number along with your call sign during the ordering process but I was never given that option.  How to I activate this license?

Thanks for the explanation Roland.  I'll purchase a license today.

Mitch - I took your advice and purchased a USB to Serial converter and downloaded ARCP-480.  Plugged the serial cable into COM2 of my Control RRC and have perfect control of the radio.  Thus confirming that CAT is working.

SM2SUM - When I press "Connect" the button label changes to "Disconnect" and the bar underneath the label is green.  When you say the diode must be green I'm not sure if you are referring to the colored bar on the button or what looks like an LED under the PTT Hold checkbox.  That dot was originally RED.

I have confirmed that all of the port numbers in the app match those in the RRC.

I'm an iPhone user not Android so not very familiar with Android.  I went into Settings - Application Manager - Force quit the app, cleared all of it's data, rebooted the tablet, reentered all of my settings and now what looks like an LED under the PTT Hold checkbox is green.

Everything appears to be working great now.  Thanks for the assistance.

I'm assuming I need to go purchase the nano license or this will stop working soon.  I'm happy to do so in hopes that by supporting this endeavor we'll see added features in the future.

I do have a question regarding the license.  There is a license for Kenwood and an Add-on License for Kenwood.  Given that I have a pair of RRC's which of these two do I need.  I'm not sure what they mean by Add-on.  Does that mean add on to my RRC's or does that mean you're adding on an additional nano app?

Thanks for you comments/suggestions.

1)  Jumper 3 is in place on the RRC's
2)  COM2 settings are per the TS-480 manual.  Baud 9600, 8 bits, 1 stop bit.
3)  I don't currently have another CAT in place at the Control RRC but agree with Mitch that would be a good start.  I'll see what I can do with that.

I installed a serial cable between my radio RRC and my TS-480 and just downloaded the Android Nano app for Kenwood.  I entered my SIP Contact info for my radio RRC, double checked my UDP settings, and pressed the connect button. The button changes to read "Disconnect" and that's as far as the app goes.  It never actually connects to the radio RRC.  No frequency display, etc.  The radio is functioning normally when used with the Control RRC.

I thought I could try this out once or twice and if I liked it then purchase the license.  Is that not the case?  Do I need to buy the license to get it to work or am I missing something else.  This is the current version of the app and I have no previously installed versions or server on the Android.

Thanks Mitch.  I think the confusion stems from the fact that the Signalink box provides a PTT signal as well as audio in both directions.  When I plug the output from the Signalink box directly into the DIN connector on my transceiver I get send and receive audio and PTT.  I now understand that there is a difference between a discrete PTT signal going into the DIN connector and CAT control to the radio's serial port.

So, if I understand it correctly, the receive audio comes from the headphone jack on the TS-480 panel (or the SP jack on the control RRC) to the Signalink box, and the PTT is VOX controlled.  I assume the transmit audio is carried by the cable from the Signalink box to the Mic input on the RRC.  Given all that, what role does the COM 2 port play?

Mitch I appreciate your quick reply.  I'm trying to get this working before I leave home on Monday.

I have a serial cable between COM2 and the TS-480 and I enabled COM2 on both RRC's.  I set the baud rate at 9600, 8 bits, 1 stop bit.

I will change the RTP to continuous to see if that fixes the PTT issue but I'm not getting any audio either direction so there must be something else I'm missing.

Except for some occasional intermittent issues, I now have my TS-480 and the pair of RRC's working fine on SSB and CW.  Now I'd like to get the digital modes functioning.  If I plug my  480 panel directly into the transceiver (no RRC's) and plug the output of the Signalink USB directly into the DIN plug on the transceiver, I get audio both directions and PTT works as it should.

Then I tried adding the RemoteRig boxes into the picture.  I ran a serial cable from Com 2 on the radio RRC to the transceiver, and plugged the output of the Signalink USB into the mic jack on the control RRC via Cat5.  I set com2 on both RRC's to 9600, 8 bit, 1 stop.  I'm not getting any audio to or from the radio to the computer and while the PTT on the Signaling lights up, it doesn't key the transmitter.

What am I missing?  And once I get this working is their anything else I need to wire/configure in order to use the Nano Ap?

Well I've been home for 3 weeks now with the two RRC's on the same network and I'll be darned it I can get them to stutter.  The ambient temperatures are a lot lower than the last time I was home so I even tried warming up the control RRC and the 480 panel with a hair dryer and still have a rock solid connection.  I'm going back to Arizona on Monday so will see what happens from down there.

Mitch,
Something you posted on the other forum gave me an idea.  Next time I'm home I'm going to hook the two boxes directly to one another with Cat 5 and take the router completely out of the equation.  If that solves the problem then I'll know for certain that it's a router issue.  I wouldn't have thought to try that if I hadn't seen your other posting.

Thanks.

Mitch when I first posted this thread I had the Control unit and the Radio unit both on the same network so there was only that one router in the picture.  I've since taken the Control unit 1200 miles away and the problem persists.  However, given the fact that it was a problem when they were on the same network I'd have to conclude that if it's a router problem it would be that router on my home network.

I'm a little bothered by that concept because we ran two VOIP phone lines and a fax line through that router for a couple of years with out a single issue.  Also, I've been testing this thing for the past 10 days or so and can now duplicate the problem.  It goes something like this.  If I remove the power from the control unit and let it sit unused for 30-60 minutes when I power it back up it works fine.  Once it has been on for about 45 minutes it starts to cut in and out.  Remove the power and let it sit for awhile and the problem goes away.  I am beginning to think there is a thermal issue with this control unit.  I'm going to continue to explore that possibility in addition to replacing my home router.  I'll report my findings but in the meantime if anyone has any other ideas I'm all ears.

Thank you for your response Mitch.  I've spent the past week or so going through the manual for my router, examining every menu it has, and doing on-line research.  I've been unable to find any SIP ALG setting.  It's an older router and perhaps doesn't have that feature (Buffalo WHR-HP-G54).  I was about to turn off intrusion protection but before I did I checked the log file and found that I've been getting hit with SYN Flood Attacks on a frequent and regular basis.  I have no idea what these are or whether they pose a danger but am hesitant to turn off protection.

I'm leaving later today for 3 weeks so won't have access to the home router until I return.  In the meantime I'll be working the rig remotely and see if I can find a pattern to the pulsing in and out, or a way to make it occur.

I have the MkII's working with my TS-480 except for one issue.  Some times it works great.  Other times it cuts in and out about every half second.  It does this when remote over the internet and also with both boxes on my local network.  Sometimes if I reboot my control RRC the problem goes away, sometimes it doesn't.  So far I've been unable to recreate the problem consistently.  Some times it does this and other times not.  When I say it cuts in and out, I'm referring to received audio.  My panel stays lit and all other functionality seems to be okay.  I haven't been able to try transmitting when it's doing this so can't say if transmitting is cutting in and out or not.

Wow - thank you very much for checking.  I do appreciate your efforts.

I've double checked and the Codex Out Gain is in fact set to 255.  Guess i will need to pick up s cheap set of amplified computer speakers.

Thanks Mike.  I've checked the straps so many times now that I think I have them memorized.  They are all set to configuration #1 per the manual.  I've also tried three different cables from the panel to the TTL jack.  At this point nothing seems to have helped.  I'm going back to my home QTH next weekend and will try swapping out the cable between the radio RRC and the transceiver.

If that doesn't solve the problem I'll probably plug an amplified set of computer speakers into the  Control RRC to boost the audio level.
