Title: Incorrect temp display in 1216E
Post by: SM5PHU on 2012-02-10, 15:21:36
Hej,

Using the "legacy version" 1216E, I have a problem with temperatures in the range between 0 and -1 C not displaying correctly (i.e. not being displayed at all).
I see there was a fix for this in version 1.12 firmware for 1216H.

Is there a fix available for the 1216E? (Does the 1216H firmware run also on 1216E?)

The fix in 1216H is not related to the functionality of the discontinued 1216E as they are internally very different. In 1216H all negative values were handled wrong. Also, the 1216H firmware can only be used in the 1216H.

OK

Anyway, my 1216E does not display any values between -0 and -1 C, see attached jpeg.
Is this a known problem? If so, is there a fix? (Other than replacing the 1216E with a 1216H.)
I'm running "Software Version 01.01". I can't tell if this corresponds to the last available version (1.07) on http://www.remoterig.com/old/en/1216E.htm (http://www.remoterig.com/old/en/1216E.htm)

Hi

I use four 1216E for temperature control my self and I have never found any problem with them, they show outdoor temps below zero now, all of them. It's firmware version 1.07 in them.

Seems Jonas is talking about the range 0 to -1, not minus degrees in general.

Mine also shows temperatures below -1.

It displays above-zero temperatures all the way down to 0 OK.
Then there's a gap between 0 and -1.
Then below -1 it's OK again.

So, when the temperature drops, it goes directly from 0 to -1, whithout displaying anything inbetween.
This has gone unnoticed for years, until a few days ago, when I started plotting temperature graphs.

There seems to be a rounding error right where the polarity changes.

Are you sure your 1216E can display for instance -0.5? Up that far north you may have to wait a few months to verify this...  ;)

(And are 1.07 and "01.01" the same?)

Ok

It's not many days per year the temp is between 0 and -1 here and I might not have checked those days as I do not log the temperatures. We will check if there is done some improvements between 1.01 and 1.07

Looking closer at the data, it seems that negative values between 0 and -1 are flipped and incorrectly displayed as positive, see attached jpeg.
(I should probably get myself a life, instead of spending a Friday night staring at temp logs...)

Today it is close to being between 0 to -1 as it is right now -2  ;)

Have you forgot the door open to the freezer Jonas?
Here I normally have a indoor temperature around 20C.
