CAT Interface for Kenwood TS480?

(1/2) > >>

Moin,

I'm able to use my remote TS480 (SSB, Digimode via VOX). What I miss: The CAT Interface. Is there any way to use the RRC-1258 MkII for this 2nd task?

sm2o:
Yes of course

Connect a cable from com2 to the radio CAT port

Look at the chapter, Kenwood in common for cable drawing

Moin Mike, thanks for your answer.

I found the chapter, thanks for the pointer :-)

An other question (I can't experiment because the TS480 is 400 km away :-) If I go there soon everything should be fine.

The instructions say I need a cable with 2x female plugs on the Radio side. That fits, there is a male plug on the TS480, as well as on the RRC-1258 Mk II

That's why I used to use a USB to 9 pin Sub-D adapter with a female plug. On the control RRC-1258, COM2 is also a socket (female). That means I need a different USB adapter or a gender changer, right?

sm2o:
You cannot use USB at the radio side you have to make a cabe according to the drawing

dd0ul:
Moin Mike, what I was trying to say: So far I had used an adapter that has a Sub-D socket at one end of the cable (connected to the CAT interface of the TS480), and a USB plug at the other end that went into the PC.

If I now use the RRC-1258MkII and want to continue using this CAT-USB adapter, I need a remote cable with 2x 9-pin female (that's how the manual describes it and that's what it looks like) from the TS480 to the remote RRC. But here on the Control RRC-1258 a gender changer is needed because COM2 is female, my USB cable is 9pin female.

Right?
