Title: Windows 10 and Win-Test
Post by: kl9a on 2015-12-04, 21:40:24
I am running a new Windows 10 computer with RR Box and K3/0.
Everything works 100% between N1MM+ and the RR Box.
I can't get Win-Test to see the radio at all.  I can *send* frequency commands OK and the K3/0 will accept those.

Same setup under Windows 8.1 on a different computer all work 100% in Win-Test and N1MM+.

I tried reinstalling everything, including drivers.
Anyone else had problems with Windows 10 and Win-Test?
The Win-Test guys say it is a RR Box and/or Windows issue.
Any help would be much appreciated!
Thanks,
Chris KL9A

Hi
I have same problem with K3/0, win-test, Windows 10, RRC-1258 MkII (version 006, firmware 2,87, bootloader1.10, hw 007) setup. I have tested remote working in same router (and via internet). I have two hard disk which I have changed , one have W7 and the other have W10. Win-test is version is 4.19.0. In this configuration W7 work 100%, but when I have W10 in use the Radio 1 window (bandmap) does not updated. When I change band in the control radio or in the remote radio, bandmap is all the time freezed. When I change band by win-test bandmap is updated, but frequency pointer is freezed (do not move), like in all situations. Local setup K3 / win-test W10 work's 100%.

I have collect comports data (VFOA idle, up, down) by Eltima serial port monitor, if somebody are interested in.

Thanks,

You could give the RRC 2.89 Beta found here:

http://www.remoterig.com/forum/index.php?topic=4168.msg20740#msg20740 (http://www.remoterig.com/forum/index.php?topic=4168.msg20740#msg20740)

a try as it contains fixes that might be related to your issue.

Hi
I tried RRC versions 2,89 and 2.90 and also latest win-test version 4.20.0. My PC is Lenovo T510 Windows 10 Pro version 1511 / 10586.104.
Not any improvement. Still bandmap window not working and frequency stamp is wrong in the log file. So, contesting is practically impossible on remote mode.

Suggestions ?

I am not that familiar with how to use Win-Test in general, so would it be possible for you to provide a kind of step-for-step guide how to configure and use it so that I can try to reproduce the behaviour you are seeing?

In cooperation with the maker of Win-Test a change in how Win-Test reads serial data from the Com port seems to make the virtual Com ports work with Windows 10. It seems Windows 10's virtual Com port driver(usbser.sys) that is used by the RRC does not behave like it did in Window 8/8.1 and older.

According to the maker of Win-Test a new version will be available containing that change, so there is hope things will get better!  ;)
