Title: 706 high pitched noise on xmit
Post by: Mike/K3MMB on 2010-06-12, 03:33:27
tried to use the rig on a net and had nasty high pitched (almost sounds like data burst) noise on my transmit. It almost covered my voice audio.

I tried chokes on cat 5 ethernet and both control and radio 1258 with no joy.

has anyone experienced something like this?

Hi
The transmit audio with IC-706 should be absolutely perfect, and is not sensitive for Ethernet noise or anything like that. I guess you have something wrong with the icom separation cable or have any of the red straps broken, check them with an ohm meter.

Actually, when i started back tracking, I found the radio itself to be damaged. I put a new control cable on and it did the same thing, so I put the control head on the body of the radio and again it did the same thing.

So I just shipped the radio back to ICOM for repair. I will play with my 703+ until they return the 706.

THANKS FOR THE SUPPORT!
