I have been working on the cabeling for the 857, and i wonder why it was adopted in the manual for connection off the controlpanel to the TTL connector insted of making a Y-cable spillter for controlpanel and mic - this would make the modification obsolete. Is the data signal level not the same on those two (mic/aus and ttl) when strapped correctly inside?
So is it possible to make cableling outside the remoterig boxes to avoid modification inside, besides straps?

Hi

It's possible, but the porposed mods takes less than 5 minutes. So we concidered it to be much more complicated to make splited cables. If you do don't forget the screeing of the mic wire on the radio side.

Hi there,

Could you explain (for dummies) how to make cableing outside the boxes to avoid the inside modification for FT-857d?

I'd rather not to modify the boxes. I prefer to make cables.

Is there going to be a new PCB design with jumpers to configure the FT-857d easily? I supose you have already thought about that, have you?

Hi

I have attached an idea to cables which can be used if you do not want to do any mods on the pcb. pse try.

There will be boxes which can be used without mods in the future.

Thanks Mike for your fast support.

Right now I have my system working with IC-706, but I have a FT-857D installed in my car. The idea is making the cables as soon as possible in order to test it in my first trip to the remote side.

When I'll try it, I'll let you know.

anybody informe  what is the correcr connections for ft857. This as sown in remoterig websitew ----> http://www.remoterig.com/wp/?page_id=1188 with tha indendical  cables for rig and display, or this --->YAESU-FT-857-10a-10b.pdf with y cable as sown on forum?

Hi there:

As far as I know, the 10a-10b.pdf cable is for connection without internal modification. For the connections you can see in the website, is necessary the boxes internal modification, in according with the user manual.
