Hello All:

I have a RRC-1258MkII being shipped.

I have to purchase a new radio for the mountain that will be used with the RRC.

I want to be able to use the control head of the radio, I may also want to use HRD.

I may want to use "digital" modes.

I also want to be able to connect the "hill top" radio to a RLC-3 Link-Comm controller and use the HF remote with our Repeater System.

So, the question is WHAT RADIO" would you guys suggest and why?

Hello All:

I have talked to several folks that are / have used the TS-480 and it has been highly recommended, so I have purchased the TS-480.

I spoke with Rick, K6VVA who is a very big fan of the TS-480. I also asked Rick as the whether or not a program like HRD could be connected to the RRC in addition to the TS-480 control head and he was not sure.

So the remaining questions are can the RRC be interfaced with the TS-480 and be used by a computer running remote control software also? I assume NOT at the same time..

Is there any OSX (MAC) remote control software that will work with the RRC?

Hi Tim

TS-480-Panel is working fine with the remoterig-boxes. Panel and CAT can be used at the same time, I did that with the W4MQ-Softare and the W4MQ-IRB-Tools, but never tried it with the boxes, it should be possible anyway. Setup and cabling with the boxes and a TS480 is very easy and the remote panel is very handy with its big knob and the built in speaker.
