Title: KRC2 Band Decoder on remote K3
Post by: G4TSH on 2014-09-15, 23:16:54
Does anyone know if it is possible to use the KRC2 band decoder on the serial port between the RRC and a K3 at the remote site and use it to switch antennas?  I presume I will have to use a slower baud rate and Kenwood protocol.

I use KRC2 to do band decoding on a K3 for antenna switching and rotor control box switching.  I connect the KRC2 through a 'Y' cable connected to the ACC port on the K3.  My remote rig box connects to the K3 through a P3 panadaptor connected to the RS232 port on the K3.  That all works OK for me.

OK, Tks.
Now have this working with BCD output off the AUX on the K3 using a Y splitter cable to drive BCD to a Top Ten band decoder (Yaesu) which switched the antenna relays.  See the Top Ten site for cable wiring requirements. http://www.qth.com/topten/bdman.pdf

Simpler than I thought!
