Title: Alternative Port Assignments for the Remoterig
Post by: K0BUB on 2010-09-30, 03:20:00
With regards to the Remoterig, I am concerned about assigning ports to it that my ISP is likely to NOT have blocked.

SIP seems to be the big one I'm tackling at present!

I am interested to learn of your varied experiences with assigning ports to the Remoterig.

Please email me (k0bub@arrl.net) or respond here in the forum.

Thank you!

Matt,

There is no problem to change the port on the RemoteRig. Over here,
many routers have port 5060 already blocked for internal VoIP (even
if you don't use it), so you MUST change it to something else. I have
to admit that I am not aware of any DSL/cable providers blocking ports
like I hear from the U.S. The exception is UMTS (3G), where the providers
do not want you using VoIP.
