Title: Still unable to connect
Post by: KA3DCO on 2016-01-31, 23:50:58
Am using IC 706 & RRC 1258 - I am unable to connect control unit to radio unit - radio functions perfectly within local network at home - have followed instructions and am confident settings are correct - I have checked and double checked both routers several times - when I browse "own host name" as described in manual I cannot get a connection - I have been patient and thorough since August working on this - any suggestions?

Hi
It sounds like the portforwarding in the Router is not done correct or the Radio RRC cannot update the ddns server. Can you browse the Radio RRC if you use the routers public IP address ? At the status page in the Radio-RRC you can see if the ddns update is working. Most common reason that it's not working is that the DNS setting is not correct, but it will also be shown on the status page.

I thought I would reply to the message I had initiated on the Forum because we finally managed to get the RemoteRig units to connect across the internet an achieved QSOs using the interconnected head and body of an Icom 706 and using Apple AirPort Extreme and AirPort Express WiFI routers and wireless network extenders. Because there seems to be so little information on the Forum concerning Apple and Mac OSX equipment, we took the time to document our settings and a construct a drawing of the final setup. That documentation is provided in the PDF document attached to this posting. Hope it helps folks. 73.
