Title: Cannot change Network Interface, Windows7
Post by: oe1tkw on 2013-03-26, 23:37:12
Hi
I use the PC Client on my XP and Windows 7 computer, for the PC Client.

When the Network Interface changes (e.g. when one uses WLAN, and next time switch off the WLAN and use the LAN Cable )
on the next start of PC Client the message pops up:
Error: The Object Reference was not linked to an Object Instance.

At XP I can enter the settings, store the now used Network Interface , and proceed.

At my Windows7 32bit installation ( I start the PC Client with XP SP3 compatibility and as Administrator)  ,
I cannot enter the settings and the PC Client writes:
InvalidArgument=Value with the Value 0 is invalid for SelectedIndex.
Parametername: SelectedIndex.

was my parameter file destroyed?

tnx es 73

Yes I can see what happens.

In settings its told that say the WAN interface should be used and that's OK.
Then before starting the program next time you have turned WAN off, but the program still
think it the WAN interface that should be used as that's what given in the settings.
It tries to use the WAN and give some error signs.

I could add some mechanism that give you the opportunity to re-select interface in the
current one isn't available when you start the program. Have to think about that.

Regarding  you other problem I really don't know what that is about. At least no such problem is known or reported before.

There is a way to reset all data to a state as when installed. Not to easy but here is how to do it

Exit the program

Delete the file user.config found in a folder named something like this
C:\Users\<you username>\AppData\Local\Microbit_2.0_AB\RRCMicro.exe_Url_<a string with digits and character>\1.6.5.0

Start the program

This will NOT delete you Profiles

Next update will take care of this situation by showing a form
that let the user select a new interface at program start
