Title: Network Bandwidth Requirement for TS-480 and TS-2000?
Post by: w4rdm on 2010-04-16, 20:55:07
What is the bandwidth required for the Kenwood TS-480 and TS-2000 to operate properly with Remoterig RRC-1258MkII?
I have a Verizon 3G usb modem that I want to use.

Hi Ron,

the bandwidth depends on the settings. Maybe this listhttp://www.remoterig.com/en/codec.htm (http://www.remoterig.com/en/codec.htm) helps.

I don't use a TS-480 or TS-2000 but with my IC-706 and default settings for the codec I have around 210kbit/s.

Simon,
TNX for the link. That was exactly the information I was looking for.

Hi

The lowest audio codec needs 80kBit/s and then the control channel needs bandwitdh when rotating the VFO so 128 -256 kbit/s is good to have available

Remember that you need a router between the USB-stick and Remoterig boxes

I have a Cradlepoint PH300 router that I have been using with the usb stick.
The router also has a battery built in for portable use.
