Title: How many GB does this system use for playing radio one hour?
Post by: K3user on 2010-04-26, 06:42:26
Hi,

I have got an ADSL account with a 10GB cap.
How long can you play radio via such an internet account with different codec settings.

I am planning to use a K3.

Cheers
Ron.

HI,

It depends on codex you will use. If it is ~120 kbits/sec, then it is 15 kbaits/sec or ~7 Megabaits per
hour or 10 GB for two months.

I hope my calculations are not very wrong ;)

Hi Arunas, hi Ron,

I would say this calculation is a bit "optimistic".

For 120kbit/s I end up at roughly 65MB per hour, for the higher quality codecs where you will have about 230kbit/s 100MB per hour.

As there was a thread about the usage of VOX some days ago. If you change the setup to constantly stream the the TX audio then you will have about twice the data volume.
