Title: 1258MK!!s and new IC-7100
Post by: VK4OI on 2014-11-20, 04:36:17
I have just taken delivery of the 1258MK!!s and I have a late version the "modified" one by Icom of the 7100. I have read the info page about the mods board but am I correct that you can use the new version 7100 with the MK!!s WITHOUT the need for the 1258M pcbs that is required in the control end?. I read it that you need the small pcbs if you have a older 7100 and the new MK!!s.  Can someone tell me if I need this board as the local supplier here in Australia does not have any in stock but I can make the necessary board easily but I do need to know what the FET device number is and also the transistor they are using

I have not tested that solution. I just copied it from the ICOM schematics. I guess most components from the junkbox will work it’s not critical

Our solution is based on a comparator, I designed it before I saw the ICOM schematics, but it’s more difficult to build by yourself as it is SMD components

I have ordered some TO-92 FETs to test with (we only have SMD in stock), I will update the schematics when I have tested with them.

SMD is not a problem for me Just really need to know the RdsOn resistance so I can get the appropriate get but if it isn't that critical then I suppose any transistor and low rdson get will do?

But I also take it to mean that I DO need to have the mod board fitted to the latest version Remoter and my new version 7100

Do you have a circuit for the comparator..I have some here in sm. that may do the job anyway

I have emailed you the schematics.

If you need it depends on the serial numer of the IC-7100.

If you try without the adapter you will see that the panel starts but you get no communication to the radio, from the radio is OK.

I have a late serial number so the 7100 I have is a new modified by Icom version

And I have the latest 1258MK2S

I bought the simplest 10 cent FET I could found (2N7000) and tested to built the adapter on a socket, and it works.

I updated the info on the website
