Title: IC-7100 Locks Up
Post by: ag4uj on 2016-06-15, 22:23:20
I have a ic-7100 and RRC-1258MKii working fine. Today i tuned to 7.251 USB to check into Southcars when i pressed the PTT on the mic the red TX light on the 7100 turn red. The AUX/MIC on the front of the RRC light on the left of the connector on (red). The system locked up for about 2 mins, then the ic-7100 reboots. Has anyone seen this before.

Hi

I do not think the IC-7100 locks up. if the red mic/aux LED is ON the IP connection is lost. It can be just coincidence that it happened when you pushed the PTT, but if it happens more than once it's probably beacause of RFI. Unbalanced antennas can cause RFI enough to disturb the ethernet or a DSL connection and cause a disconnect.

I have same issue with an ic 706 I just hooked up. If you cycle the radio head power off and back on, the audio will return just like you had first turned the radio on. Every once in a while it takes 2 cycles of power. This is much faster recovery than waiting for rig to come back on it's own. So far mine only happens during transmit. It can happen anytime during the transmission, not just at the start. If I understand the lites on the remoterig, the audio stream is lost but since the yellow lite is still on, the SIP connection is still valid.

Hi the Yellow LED is on for 60sec after the connection is lost, if the connection comes up during that time normally you do not need to to anything. It was set to allow the DSL-modems to reboot and come up again.
