Title: RC 1216 with Expert 1.3 non connecting
Post by: w2hdi on 2020-04-26, 16:40:47
I just installed a new RC1216H for the purpose of remote control of my Expert 1.3 amp.  I had purchased the cable from Expert when I bought the amp a few years ago.
Installation of the RC1216 seems to be working, and I'm showing the screen for the amp, with a flashing green light.  But I have no response when I connect the cable to the amp.  I've re-read instructions for both the amp com port and the RC 1216.  Can't figure out what I'm doing incorrectly.  Wondering if I have a bad cable.

Check to make sure that the serial end of the cable is using pins 7&8 instead of 2&3, which are the
standard pins. The Expert uses 7&8 for CAT, because 2&3 are reserved for a SteppIR controller.

Is the "serial" end the male end, as in the manual.  I'm seeing Female(2,3,5) and Male (5,7,8)
Thanks

That is correct.

My only guess is the baud rates don't match, otherwise Mike or someone may have a better idea.

Hi first question when people having trouble with Expert is. Have you disconnected the USB-cable from the PA ? When connected it disables the serial port
I don't know anything about the cable from Expert. Check it against our manual, you also need the start signal connected via SW1.

:-*  Mike, that was it!  Disconnected the USB cable from the amp and it works.  Wow, the little things.....
Thanks.
