I'm trying to help a friend with a new remoterig installation. Everything is fine, except rotator control.
Prosistel PST641D comes with a mini USB conection por control. Connected with a serial-usb converter to COM-1 on remote side doesn't work.
COM1 on both sides are configured as Mode 3.
Is there anyobdy here using that rotator with remoterig?
We need some help

Hi Juan Carlos,
A USB converter will never work. You can only connect a real serial cable to an RRC.

Thanks Mitch:
Problem here is that Prosistel Control comes with USB interface.
I'm looking for how to have RS-232 port on prosistel control and don't find anything....

Sorry, Juan Carlos, but I guess you need to change the controller. I used to have the Prosistel
controller with RS-232 and it worked great.

Could you explain me how was it connected? Using COM1? Using a null modem cable on radio side?
Thanks Mitch

I could have used RRC COM1, but I used a Webswitch and also Lantronix serial server. Both use
straight serial cables.

Hi
it's quite easy to convert a USB Prosistel to RS232. 15 minutes of work
1. Replace the USB connector which eg is a USB to TTL converter with a 9 pin female D-sub- same pinning
2. Put a MAX232 in the empty socket on the main PCB
2. Remove the main PCB and cut the two jumpers under the socket you put the MAX-232 in

Many thanks Mike:
I'll try to do it

Helo Mike.
I am the friend that EA5WA is helping.
I have the rotor open command, and I suppose it must be the integrated or socket that you comment. Upload photo. It is accessible, yes. It is easy to place max 232, but I can't find in google bridges that I should cut on the board. Would you provide this information please? I use google translator and it is never perfect.
To change usb in the remote, I understand I need that or similar?

is ok?

Or maybe I just need chassis connector? easy.
It seems strange to me the part that comes from origin, or manufactures, that indicates rs232 to usb converter, so we thought that we only had to change the connector and easy. But no.
And photo.
Thanks in advance for your great help.

Hi
you only need a connector like this

and the MAX232

the wires which need to be cut is on the back of the PCB under the empty socket
I will try to get a picture from an other ham i helped

This is the photo that I can get with a flashlight on the part of the screen.
-
yes it's the two wires which is solder beween the pins of the socket which need to be cut
if you can take a new picture with correct colors it would be good to have to instruct others

Off course, but no colour.

Another.

In orden to avoid pcb removal, I think we can use this TTL to RS232 converter with max232 included
Could we?
Many thanks Mike

Yes it should work also

We need to bring or feed 3.3v to the converter. Have a 5v in pin 6.
Monday, we receive material.
I hope this post, help more people
-
We have tried both. Neither works. Neither install max, nor complete part.
Hopeless. Sorry. Are there any other ideas? For mini usb we can not enter the RRC?
no work. No is ok.
-
After trying with the TTL to RS-232 converter, nothing works....No way. We have try even directly to the computer, without success....
After that, we have made the modification on the PCB, and after switching on, the newly installed MAX232 got really really hot.....
At the moment, rotator only works using the mini usb conector on the Rotator Control.
We are wondering if we can convert the COM1 RS-232 to USB and then use the cable that is working now....
We need sone help

Hi
if you do like I said from beginging it works, I have also seen instructions from Prosistel saying the same.
You can never convert a serial port to USB, all converters are USB to serial.

Hi Mike:
Could we have these instructions from Prosistel?
Thanks for your explanation and help

Not from me, ask them

Notification Prosistel. Adjunto at post. Is a pdf reader.
We have worked with the prosistel Todo works manual, ts-2000 and rotor via RRC.
We had to change 2 and 3 on the remote, that is, null cable. I hope this post is helpful to potential visitors.
Many thanks to those who helped us. Very thankful. EA5ZJ Jordi.

Perfect that they have made instructions, I had not seen that before. I just saw an email that another customer got with part of the info
I will put a link on the Remoterig site to the instructions
