Ok .. got it. Here is the Signalink.

Strappings on RR are just as in the RR manual. The cable set on the Remote K3 are from Elecraft. On the laptop end I have a CAT5 patch cable to the Signalink and stereo audio cable from RR spk to Signalink spk. The strappings in the Signalink were to match the cable from Elecraft ... IE .. the MIC uses pins 3 and 4 and the PTT is using pins 5 and 6... so in the Signalink I set MIC=3, PTT=5, G=4, G=6.

Well, I messed around with this last night ... The problem I am having is that I purchased the cables from Elecraft for the Radio side of things ... this is the cable that goes from the AUX/MIC of RR to the rear PTT and Rear Panel MIC of the K3. At the control side, I am able to use the serial communications to remotely control the K3 and can activate PTT via software, but no audio is ever passed when I do that. What I discovered is that if I take the Heil adapter and use a manual PTT plug I can activate PTT on the K3 and then audio will go to the radio end. So the software PTT is not working properly. Any ideas? Is it that I cant use the Rear Panel mic at the radio end with the Elecraft cable and the AD-1-KM unless I manually PTT?

If I want to use a Signalink with the RR and a K3 ... can I use a regular CAT5 patch cable to from the AUX/MIC port to the Signalink port? or is there a specific pinout that I need to do? And how do I set something like DM780 to PTT? use HRD or let the Signalink handle that?

And if I want to just get audio to and from the RR box to the laptop, can I just use a CAT5 cable to mono plug from the RR AUX/MIC to the laptop speaker? Would it be just PIN3=TIP and PIN4-SLEEVE? and then a stereo plug from RR SPK to laptop mic?

What other offers of advice for using the RR with the K3 this way? (not using K/0). Any special settings in the menu / config? ie ... PTT setting for DTR / RTS etc ....

No, not using a K3 .. at least not yet. The radio is an Omni VII so I am just wanting to have access to the KPA500 Utility software so that I can bypass / enable / and remote power on and off the amp ...

So I am guessing that the RRC box requires a Null Modem cable then for devices that are going to use the COM port in that fashion ... I never did see that in the user manual, but that is what I am gathering from the previous post .... I plan on inserting the null modem cable tonight to try it out ...

I do plan on switching to a K3 at some point... just not sure when, so that would be great if you would send me the information that you have.

Thanks,
Larin

Are you referring to the rrc manual or kpa500 manual? I don't see where pins 2 and 3 need to be crossed.

I want to control a KPA500 amp using COM1 on the RRC. I have a standard serial cable from the KPA500 PC port to the Radio RRC COM1 and the a standard serial cable from RRC Radio COM1 to my PC COM15. I have tried several settings for COM1 in the Serial Settings of the web interface but have yet to get my PC to talk to the KPA500. Can anyone tell me what those settings should be?

Thanks,
Larin

Do I understand that you can use an ft-450 to control an ft-2000? or do the radios need to match?

Ok. That was the trick. I didn't realize serial mode 4 didn't recognize the termination command. After switching to mode 5 it connected just fine.

Thanks for the help.

More info: I am using program mode 4 and serial mode 4 and for the serial settings I have 57600 and the 0d termination command.. I am unable to get hrd out n4py to connect via serial through the remote rig boxes.

So for now I have audio via rr and remote control via ethernet using ten tec one plug.

Ideas or assistance?

Mine started doing this to as soon as I flashed the latest firmware ... I can usually get it to boot by unplugging all the cables - it seems like unplugging the Ethernet cable will allow it to power on ... I will try it again after while ... But it doesn't happen to mine every time, but most often it does not boot  ...

I am trying to get the O7 connected... I have used other radios before but can't really find much useful information on rr and ten tec.... I am using the program 4 they seems to be somewhat generict in flavor and have strapped the boxes using a yaesu configuration, but I still can't get serial communication. Audio works ok.

Can someone give me details on a setup for a ten tec radio please?
I need the proper strapping, serial setting and any other details you can think of.

General discussion forum / Antenna Switch Information Needed
« on: 2012-06-20, 20:51:53 »
At my remote site I need a solution to be able to remotely select one of three antenna's. I am assuming that I would need the Webswitch but beyond that I don't know where to go. For instance, I didn't know if I could use something like the Ameritron RCS-4 in a modified way to allow it to work ... I don't need the switch to be outside, I can have it right at the control spot where the Webswitch will be located. Can someone please point me to a product that will allow me to choose an antenna from a web interface?

So in looking at that table, it is saying that if I bought a used set that was a hardware version 5 then I wouldn't be able to use it with the FT-857 with the remote head? Because you have to have a V7 to do that?

I am interested in knowing the differences in hardware versions and capabilities, specifically between the DualRX versions ... at this point can a hardware version 5 do everything that a version 6 and 7 can or are there specific limitations as new things are introduced? I am asking because I am getting ready to purchase and was thinking of purchasing a used set but it appears that it is the hardware version 5 and I dont want to buy something that is outdated. Thanks for any insight in this matter.
