Configuration, RRC 1258 / IC7100 Wont reconnect
« on: 2021-06-09, 01:51:53 »
Hi All

I recently moved location of my shack and ever since have had issues with my IC 7100 Florida to UK setup.   It seems when I lose internet connection I can't reconnect to the radio, both RRs are ok and I can connect to both of them but unless I do a remote reboot of the main power to the radio it won't restart, I am wondering if I have a setting issue somewhere, my new internet is a little flakey but I can still hold a conversation on it.
Checked both sides and nothing stands out as being an issue in the status list everything shows as off or disconnected.  Tried a reboot but nothing.

Any ideas please?

Many thanks

Stuart

Configuration, RRC 1258 / Re: Firmware upgrade issue!

Thank you very much for the reply, I was able to get to the bottom of the issue, I needed to reset the radio end of the RR setup (IC7100) but I am seeing this as a regular issue now, I had to reset the radio every now and again but it seems I am doing it daily now and the only way I can do it is to cut the power to the PSU and back on again.   Any ideas or settings that might stop the radio from being able to turn back on?

Thanks again
Stuart

Configuration, RRC 1258 / Firmware upgrade issue!

Hi
Hope someone can help, I did a big upgrade to my 2 x 1258 MRK2 today and now I can't get my 7100 to connect.   I went to the latest firmware from 2.75 I belive it was, I can connect to both units but no radio.   My bootloader is 1.10.  Should I have uploaded with a lower firmware version first?   Sorry not sure what other details to give.  It did work before that I was testing it out after it being off for so long and a move of location.

Thank you

Stuart

Hi Guys

I know it's been a few months since I posted this message but wonder if anyone has any further ideas on my situation.  I am visiting my remote station and it still looses its connection every now and again and I have to turn it back on when  I discover it.   Anyone have any other ideas how I can hold or restart the connection if it looses it?

Thank you

Stuart

Hello

Need a little help please, I leave my radios on in the shack so I can listen as I am about the house and unfortunately the internet connection in my UK shack is a little flaky so I often find the radio head unit has shut off and I have to manually turn the power back onto the radio, is there a setting that if it senses a break in connection it will automatically reconnect again rather than just turning off?   Hope someone can help

Thank you

Stuart

Hi again

Just had a fellow ham take a look at my equipment and he has tested the cable to the radio with me and also checked all the straps in the radio RR and I am still getting nothing.   I am at a complete loss right now what to do next.  The radios worked perfect before I moved QTH.  PTT status is the same on both radios when I key this end but all I am getting is silence when I key the mic and no output.   As I said I port forwarded after the move but think that was all.

Hope someone has an idea

Thanks

Stuart

Just checking over settings and PTT status:   ON for both sides when I key up the mic, would that maybe suggest its a connection between the radio and RR maybe, bad cable possibly?

Thanks

Hi All

Got an issue with my RR setup, I recently moved QTH in England and after several days of being off air I got everything setup back up but now my Kenwood TM- V71 is not TXing. I was supplied a new router so had to port forward again but now when I key the mic the noise silences but it doesn't PTT at either end, can recieve just fine and all fuctions work perfect just no TX.  Checked everything over but  can't see what would cause an issue like this, can only think its maybe a setting somewhere in the router or RR.

Has anyone had any issues like this before?  I also own a IC7100 thats used via RR and thats working as normal.

Thank you

Stuart

Hi Guys

Just to put this one to rest, I have recently visited my remote QTH and after bypassing the RR and some more tests it turned out to be the PSU that had gone bad!  It was rated for 35amp but something has gone bad along the way inside it so after 17 years I am putting it out to pasture and went and bought a MAAS 50 amp supply and its running everything perfectly!    Thanks for the replies.

Thanks for the message guys I appricate it, if I am going to have to add more chokes I will have to do it myself on my next trip overseas.

My friend visited today and spent hours trying to eliminate the RF issue from the RR, he moved the RR 12 feet from the radio and it still does it whenever I go over 50w on HF!

We also tried the 10meter antenna direct into the HF port on the 7100 and it still made the radio shut off over 50w.  I had issues with the 706mrk2g also but not as bad as this, seems the 7100 is really sensitive.

I also use a IT-100 ATU and the 10 Way Automatic antenna tuner that is sold via RR website and its a dream setup just the issue with the 7100 shutting off that's really bugging me now, what I don't understand is why isn't it shutting down my 2nd RR that's next to it for 2/70.   Just can't get my head around why it's ok with one and not the other , both identical with firmware ect.

Any more ideas I can try?

Thank you

Stuart

Hi All

Sorry to drag up an old topic but this issue I have on HF is making life miserble as a regular ham, talking and then have the radio shut off because the power is too high that the RF is getting in, funny thing is its only effecting my original RR setup on the IC7100 and not the RR on my Kenwood d71, so I would think it would have to be getting in via the Cat5 cable from the 7100 radio to the RR otherwise it would shut down my other radio and RR when I TX on the Icom but it doesn't effect it at all.

I have a friend going to my Remote shack tomorrow and he is going to try and distance the RR from the Icom to see if that helps, I added RF ferrite clamps but that didn't work, any other advice to help solve the issue we can try please?

Thank you

Hi All

Need a little help please, thanks to a fellow Ham at my remote station we installed a 2nd RR for me today with a Kenwood V71 dual bander.    I have on my original RR used the IO port to switch a coax relay which works great but I am having issues getting the I/O to work to switch another relay I am trying to use.   I have the I/O ports set as Out0 and using OUT Mode as I/O and IN0 on the Control to use with a switch, but each time I make the connection between pin 4 and ground I get a loud beeping coming from the speakers.   Can't see what I am doing wrong that the switch wouldn't work as I have copied it from my first RR setup which is working great.

Hope someone can please help

Thank you

Stuart
