OK, #19 appears to have been defective and now using the other terminals with no problem! Hesitated to try them before in case I would ruin them too.  Good thing I don't require all the switches.

This is serious and the whole thing seems stupid.  I found a pair of number 16 stranded on a power plug and tried them with no success. Now the terminal #19 is over tightened and unusable.  No matter what I did the wire just pulled out after tightening the screw.  Obviously hundreds of people must be using these terminals successfully but I can't get them to work.  Getting Remoterig equipment working over the internet was simple compared to the problems I am having with these obviously simple terminals.  I cannot understand it at all.

After 60 years experience with making electronics connections to a vast number of circuit boards and devices I find myself stymied by the connection terminals on this unit!  For a 16 amp rating one would think they would take #14 wire, but no.  I only have #14 wire here at the remote location at this time.  Does the wire go above or below the small plate visible in the hole?  I took off a few strands and  I have tried both places above and below the hole and tightened the screw only to find the wire pulls out easily.  What am I doing wrong and why??

The new programs you mention are meant for connecting between two computers and consist of a server and client program for each of the Elecraft autotuner and amplifier.  They also work nicely in the local mode with a smaller footprint with the remoterig boxes but are really meant for computer to computer.

Using the original programs for the KPA500 and the KAT500 I have them now working simultaneously through
com1 and com2 both with setting 4.

I tried com1 and com 2 both at setting 4 and can control the KPA500 via com1 and the KAT500 via com2 simultaneously over the internet.  No room for CAT.

I have either the KPA500 or  KAT500 working through com1 over the internet.  I had to use the menu on the KPA500 to change its speed to 38400.  The setting is just serial setting 4 and using a null modem gender changer at the radio RRC, with the TS480 turned on.

Well, I haven't been able to find that new program you mentioned, Ron !  However I have both working at 38400 using the menu on the KPA500 to change its speed.

Good! I have the old programs working fine on com1 BUT not at the same speed! I will get the new program and try it!

Thanks!

I guess I need a null modem gender changer.

Has anyone got one of these to work over COM1?  Radio is a TS480 and the radio mode is 5.  Using the Elecraft supplied cable direct from a KAT-500 tuner to a gender changer on COM1 on the radio RRC.  Using a straight serial cable from COM1 on the control RRC to the compiuter.  The control program works fine direct from tuner to computer.  I have tried a LOT of different settings and nothing works. Only TX and RX are used.

All right thanks.  The two Elecraft units have simple control programs for computer control via RS232 so hopefully
I can just use a DB9 switch on Com1 switched by the webswitch. I will try it here when I get to that point.

I have the basic TS480SAT working through the internet now plus a webswitch for turning on/off power supplies and resetting.  Does anyone have any experience with using the Elecraft amp and autotuner with the RRC com ports?  The mode selection info is not very clear to me.  I also want to use HRD with the 480 but no computers at the remote site. Can you use HRD with com0 and the amp and tuner on com1 and com2?  Both amp and tuner have remote control software operating via RS232.

Yes I noticed it worked that way when I accidently changed the port number.

OK it started connecting now for some reason.
