Configuration, RRC 1258 / Re: K3/0 SIP Establishment Problem
« on: 2014-06-20, 02:10:34 »
Hi Mike, Brandon figured it out.  The problem was caused by a conflict between the RRC-1258 and LP Bridge 2 that I have connected to COM 1.  I was lazy and was not disconnecting LPB2 from the RemoteRig box before/after shutdown.  That was what was causing the SIP failure.  Also, by running COM 1 at 38400, it was also causing the tuning of the radio to lag behind the dial on the front of the K3/0.  He has suggested that I slow COM 1 down to 9600 baud.  I won't be able to do that until my next trip to the club station (120 mile round trip).  I 'll get that done during Field Day, which is just around the corner.  For now I'll just live with the lag.  Oh, and by the way, the upgrade from MCU 4.67 to 4.86 had nothing to do with the problem at all.  I just so happened that I did the firmware upgrades on the same day that I installed LPB2.  See?  There really are coincidences after all, HI.

Brandon is already working on it.  He's trying to duplicate the problem in his lab.  I just thought I would send out a post here just in case anyone else is having the same problem and might have a solution.  I was hoping that some form of packet jitter or character buffer setting might fix it.  I'm just not that knowledgeable on the settings in the RemoteRig boxes.

Configuration, RRC 1258 / K3/0 SIP Establishment Problem
« on: 2014-06-18, 02:25:43 »
I just just updated my K3/0 to 4.86.  I now have a link establishment problem with the remote radio 40 miles away via the Internet.  The radio turns on, passes audio, but the display stops updating with 7150 in VFO A and TERM in VFO B.  The front panel buttons have no affect as well.  The radio did connect properly on a couple of occasions, but most of the time it fails as I just described.  When I was running 4.67 everything worked flawlessly.  I should mention that the RemoteRig units at both ends are running 2.78, 1.10, and 4.62.

Has anyone else had the same problem?  If so, what was the fix, if any?

Configuration, RRC 1258 / Re: Irregular CW Keying at Radio
« on: 2013-05-26, 17:00:32 »
Thanks, Mike.  I will give that a try.  I also received an email off-forum that suggested that I immediately update the firmware.  My friend's boxes (and mine as well) are currently running 2.68. We both received our K3/0 devices about a month ago from Elecraft.

Also, his router does port forwarding using a technique called "virtual server."  His ISP also recommended using port triggering on those ports (11000, 12000, 5060).  I somewhat disagree in that port triggering should not be required, and could add additional jitter.  Unfortunately, I am not a networking expert.  Your thoughts?

Just an aside comment, congratulations on such a wonderful product.  It has been such a blessing to do remote operation with the combination of the RemoteRig devices and the K3/0.

Configuration, RRC 1258 / Irregular CW Keying at Radio

I am having a problem on CW when I connect to my friend's K3 about 30 miles away.  The dots and dashes on his radio end are very irregular, which makes my send unable to be copied.  On this end they sound correct.  I have looked at some buffer settings, but nothing seems to help.  Sending CW with my own K3 on my home LAN works just fine.  Anyone else have this problem and found a fix?

Thanks to Brandon at Elecraft, problem solved!  New 15-pin ACC cable on the way.  Thanks, Mike.

I just ran another check.  I clicked on "Status" on the radio side MKII (192.168.1.170), and with the radio turned on it still comes back with "Radio Off."  On the controller MKII the status comes back as "Radio On."  I should mention that with both units operating all of the other features work just fine.  The only problem is turning the radio back on.

Hi Mike, yes, the I/O connector is employed, as well as the 0=Connect parameter.  I have two K3 twin setups with two pairs of Remoterig units.  I tried both of them on the K3 radio.  Both twin controllers are unsuccessful in turing the radio on.  I should have mentioned that, sorry.  It's sounds like the issue is elsewhere.  Have you had any esoteric insights with other installations?

I just purchased a new K3 and K3/0 Remoterig twin.  I just pulled the hardware out of the box tonight.  It all works very well with one minor glitch.  When I turn off the K3/0 control twin, it turns off the K3 radio as well.  I assume that's supposed to happen.  However, when I turn the twin back on, the K3 radio does not come on.  Has anyone else had this problem, and is there a fix?
