....and responding to myself...

For reason yet unknown to me, the ddns had changed to a dyndns -server.

Why ? I don't know... no settings have been touched, several resets behind

Like earlier indicated, I have difficulties in getting the DDNS to update the IP.

On the radio site, the IP has changed and External IP is OK
On the radio site, the Dynamic DNS status is  Error, Code 19

Other parameters
DNS Status OK, remoterig.com = 86.107.103.218

Where do I start looking  ?

On the Control site

DNS status "OK, ......remoterig.com = 39.xx.xx.xx (the old lease)"
When I checked the ddns status  at (https://www.remoterig.com/wp/?page_id=1481) it was the 39.xx.xx.xx, updated last time August 16 2023.

On the radio site

External IP 87.93.142.xx (the correct one)
Dynamic DNS status OK
DNS Status OK, remoterig.com = 86.107.103.218

I then updated the DDNS IP manually to IP 87.93.142.xx all started to work. before all this I had already rebooted both ends with no luck.

The DNS was set to DNS relay (192.168.1.1) . I Changed it to the google DNS. Let's see what it does on the next update. I was first thinking that its my China site that is causing troubles but this time at the home router maybe.  I think I need to see those a bit further.

G'day,

I lost the connection to the radio site sometime yesterday. After pondering a while, I found that the remoterig DNS had not upadated my radio side IP. I edited it manually and it started to work. The update has been working ok until now, but the latest IP-renewal completely failed (luckily it does not happen that often . Is there a reason for that and is there something that may be wrong in my setup and I should pay attention to  ?

Hi Mike,

Super ! That was it. Didn't even come to my little mind that the settings would be corrupted. Any particular reason or situation that this may occur ?

Anyways, thank you much for the help! I ordered another set so next holiday back in Finland will see the remote SO2R setup to be configured :)

G'day,

Yesterday, practically in the middle of the qso, I lost the ssb transmitting audio completely. Reception works fine, PTT works ok (i.e the transmitter on the remote end is keyed), but no ssb audio at all (not even a faint noise on transmitted audio). CW is ok, FSK is ok, USB -audio (connected to a local computer) works ok but I cannot get the remote microphone audio until the DSP of the TS-590 SG.

As I am 7500 km away from the radio site, the troubleshooting is somewhat cumbersome but I am proceeding as follows:

The above tells me that:
1) the radio circuitry until the DSP is somewhat ok.
2) an unlikely possibility that may have failed in the radio end is the ADC (the codec) which is sampling the audio from the front panel mic connection but I am more inclined to believe that it would possibly be the radio end RRC.

Now, is there any practical means to remotely check the audio circuitry from the analogue side at remote site until the analogue audio circuit on the radio site, bearing in mind that the tools that I have access here to are in the range of screwdriver and hammer instead of anything more sophisticated ?
Has anyone seen this kind of a thing before ?

I can isolate the radio issue later this week when I get someone to the station to change the radio but I would like to test the remaining circuitry  a bit further as the only unit that I have not  yet doubled are the RRC -boxes.

Any advice would be more than welcome :)

Hi Dennis,

Nope, no clue whatsoever. It still happens every once and again and is really annoying. I suspect the wifi adapter implementation in the remoterig box but it may also be the dns handling or something in that line. I haven't had a problem when using cable connection but again, I am not too sure on this either as I have mainly been using the wireless connection. The fibre here is shared with many households and tend to slower than the 5G on the mobile.

I have a peculiar problem where the receive audio is sometimes lost but the transmit audio remains. What happens is that the I hear a "snap" and the receive audio disappears. Both transmit audio and cw key remain ok.

Following setup
RRC-1258 MkII on both ends, radio end directly hooked up to the router, remote end on wifi-connection as here in China the 4G-network seems to provide better stream. I have tried with different coding, same thing.

It doesn't appear every day, not even every week but is very annoying when it happens in the middle of the qso. It seems to happen more often when the connection between Finland and China is good and does not happen when I have the usual problem which is the slow throughput.

Any ideas are welcome,

I am a bit puzzled with the jitter and delay settings on bad lines as it seems that sometimes the lower jitter and delay value works much better than the larger ones.

First of all, the configuration
Radio side) Finland - 4g-router with a good continuous stream of 20 mbit/s with low jitter and delay to practically anywhere
Control side) China, Shanghai - fiber  with a good continuous stream of at least 20 mbit/s with ping to the station about 350 ms but jitter reading hovering between 5 ms to 1000 ms.

It looks like uplink (outgoing audio from shanghai) is flawless. What happens is that on the reception, there are occasional cuts. It looks as if the best setting at the control end is Jitter 14 delay 10. Anything beyond or below is worse. Been trying to understand why, but so far haven't found a logical explanation why would it be this way.

Any ideas ?
