I've been using K3/K3-0 with remoterig for many years.  My remote internet has been cellular.  I recently was forced to convert from 4G/LTE to 5G and my connection has been poor ever since.  Specifically, the receive audio is choppy - on/off once a second (although it is ok occasionally).

Both local and remote RRC audio are set to 0(8 kHz) and both COM0 are set to 38400.  I suspect a bandwidth problem, but I can't figure how to correct/compensate for it.  The 5G signal is fair.

I am using a T-Mobile business service with static IP.  Any suggestions what might need to be changed for the 4G to 5G switch?

I have been using my K3 and RRCs successfully for several years.  This past June I lost my IP address when Sprint merged with T-Mobile.  I also encountered CGNAT on the "new" network.  I finally found a T-Mobile solution: a business account.  I was given a new router and a new IP address, but I'm having problems with the Inseego FX2000 gateway/router.  The radio RRC either will not connect or does so after a very long time (over an hour).  Discussions with Inseego tech support revealed a problem with port forwarding.  I've executed their "work around" several times with no success.

I've double and triple checked the RRC setup just to make sure I didn't cause the problem and I'm asking here to see if anyone might know of a reason why the radio RRC would not connect to a LAN (or do so after an extended period).

BTW:  The Inseego workaround to their problem is to move the static RRC IP into the DHCP range, apply the port forwarding rules, then move the RRC IP outside the DHCP range.

I've run out of ideas how to troubleshoot my problem.  Any suggestions?

General discussion forum / Problem converting from static IP to DNS

My Remoterig/K3 remote setup has been running flawlessly for a few years.  My internet service at the radio end was Sprint cellular with a static IP address.  When TMobile took over Sprint, my hotspot/IP setup became obsolete.  They gave me a 5G cellular hotspot but no longer offer a static IP address.  I've been trying to switch to the dynamic DNS at the radio end with no luck. 

I think I've setup the RR DNS server correctly and I think the IP address is getting passed successfully, but when I turn on power on the K3/mini I get the 3-tone cannot connect signal.

Cntl RRC Status messages:
Connection Status    Disconnected
SIP Status                Error
Last SIP Error        SIP Error

Any suggestions on what I may have missed in my conversion from static IP to DNS?

Configuration of Routers, Firewalls, etc / Switching RRC from WiFi to cable

I've had a pair of RRC1258s working with my K3 and K3mini trouble-free for several years.  The control RRC is hardwired to internet and the radio RRC is via wifi.  I'd like to change both connections: hardwire the radio RRC and wifi the control RRC.

My first step was to remove the wifi module from the radio RRC and attach it to the router with an ethernet cable.  When I returned to the control RRC I found that there was no connection (telco beep-beep-beep).  The next weekend I re-installed the wifi module, removed the cable and voila:  works again.

I haven't done much debugging since the RRCs are still remote from each other, but I can do that if necessary.  My question is this:  Do I need to change any parameters to switch from wifi to hardwired?  I was expecting the RRC to revert to the wired option automatically.

I am using a Netgear 6100D gateway/router for both the wifi and wired connection at the radio.  I've made no change to the router.  I don't know much about routers, but my home router switches seamlessly between wifi & wired.

Any advice?

Configuration, RRC 1258 / Newbie problem

I have a K3 and K3/0 mini I'm just starting to integrate with Remoterig RRCs.  Since I'm not sure what to search for in the archives, I haven't found any help there yet.

I've been through the Elecraft setup including port forwarding of my ISP router (Verizon/FIOS).  When I push POWER on the control K3/0 the remote K3 powers up, but that's all that happens.  The audio on the control K3 sounds like a motorboat.  The VFO-B indicates TERM, but no other function works except POWER (control K3 goes off, but not the remote).  VFO-A works  for 2 seconds before TERM pops up and all controls stop working.

I'm at a loss for where to start debugging.  Any suggestions?
