Configuration, RRC 1258 / New Cable modem
« on: 2016-10-19, 21:29:39 »
Had the RRC-1258 up and running for quite some time.

Today, I had to have a new cable modem installed. Now my Dad, W8JFQ, cannot access the RRC at my QTH.

It has to be the new modem.

We were using the SIP.

What are the quickest steps I need to do to get this back on line for my Dad?
Nothing has changed at his QTH.

Thanks

General discussion forum / Moving the unit.
« on: 2016-05-06, 22:33:24 »
My father has a remote rig set up and running from his apartment to my QTH using my antennas.

There is a possibility in the future that he is going to have to move to another apartment.

We are SIP Contact for the units to communicate.

When this move happens, do we have to totally reprogram the unit that he has or will it just connect back up and find the right IP address?

Thanks

Configuration, RRC 1258 / Possible Win 10 Upgrade problem
« on: 2015-12-17, 04:45:19 »
My Dad just contacted me about his remotrig setup not connecting to my qth.

He is running an IC-706. We had everything up and running on his Win 7 computer. He upgraded to Win 10 and now he cannot get it to connect to my QTH.

I will be looking into this tomorrow. I'm pretty sure it is something on his end since he updated.
It should not be anything on my end because the remoterig is not connected to my Win10 computer.

If anyone has had an issue like this please let me know how you fixed it or where i should start looking.

I'm guessing it may have something to do with the com port assigned to the remoterig at his QTH.

He had and issue with another program after the upgrade and it was a com port issue.

Thanks for any other help in advance.

Just got the Remoterig setup and running correctly.
Using an IC-706
Have the Control head of Remoterig and the Face plate of the IC-706 at my Dad's QTH.
Have the Radio head of Remoterig and the Radio body at my QTH.
At my Dad's he has a Signalink USB.
Had it hooked up to the IC-706, before separating them, and it was working fine.
Now that they are separated, does anyone have any idea as to how to hook them back up and get HRD in the mix??

I know that we can hook the Signalink USB into the mic. port on the radio head and make it work.
But how do you make the connection between the radio and HRD when the radio body is at my QTH??

General discussion forum / Set up help needed

Trying to setup the RRC-1258MKII.
Trying to follow the "Step by Step" instructions. They are not very helpful.

We have set it up at one location to program both units. Got everything up and running even made a contact on the radio while it was set up that way. Both units worked great ay my location which is the "Radio" location. We separated the units and set them back up all connected correctly. The "Control" unit now cannot find the "Radio" unit.

I have gone through all the steps of the "Step by Step" guide up to 13. That is where everything was working correctly.
Step 14 was a non factor because we are not using any of that stuff.

I have set up the DMZ and the ports for the firewall in my router at the "Radio" site.

I have set up the Dymanic DNS settings on my end. Using the free remoterig dynamic DNS service.

I have put the Own host name from the Dynamic DNS settings into the SIP contact box in the "Control" box set up.

Still am having problems with the radio not turning on and both units not finding each other.

I'm frustrated because I am doing what the instructions tell me to do and the system is not doing what it says it should be doing.

I know there are a ton of setting that I could have messed up. But I'm pretty sure I've got most of them right.

Can someone out there give me a hand with this??

Thanks

General discussion forum / IC-706 will not power up
« on: 2015-02-13, 21:34:43 »
Installing the RRC-1258 MKII. Been following the directions and everything going fine until right now.
Got to step 12 in the Step by step system setup and cannot get the IC-706 (using separation cable and head) to power up.

Can see both units on in my web browser. Can configure both units from my web browser.
The cable for the radio body (Separation and cat 5) will power up the radio and it works fine when not plugged into the RRC-1258 MKII.
When you separate them and plug the body part of the 706 into into the I/O port on the back of the control box and plug the head into the I/O port of the Radio box then hit the power button on the 706 head nothing happens.

I'm hoping that there is someone out there with a similar setup that can help me out.

I've been following the directions very carefully and have found a couple issues with them. Missing steps and mis-worded steps.

So far I cannot find and exact wiring diagram for using the IC-706 and the RRC-1258 MKII that shows me what cable to plug into what plug. Kinda frustrating.

Help.

Getting ready to set this thing up for my dad to use my antenna system.

He was asking if we could hook this up for digital communications too.

I said that I did not know.

Has someone done this using a Signalink USB Interface??

How is it done? Does the Signalink need to be at my house or my dads??
Can you give me step by step instructions to accomplish this?

We will be using HRD. His program and log will be on his machine.

Thanks

I have an ERC Rotor control connected to my CDE Rotor Control box.
It is an RS232 to USB computer connection. (Rs-232 plug attached to RS-232 to USB converter)

It is working Great with Ham Radio Deluxe rotor control module.

Here come the questions:

My dad is looking at getting the RRC-1258Mklls. He lives in an apartment and has lousy reception with his long wire and screwdriver antennas.

He would like to get you product and run his radios throught my antenna system. Currently he is looking at using my vertical only.
I see that on the module that would be at my house there is a port for an RS-232 Rotor control.
He would be running Ham Radio Deluxe also with rotor control (down the road)

Can I make my ERC controller and your modules work with my Rotor Controller box?? (if it can be done). If it can how is it done?

Like I said, he is looking at using my vertical at the moment but I can see him wanting to use my beam worn the road.

Thanks for your help
