Configuration, RRC 1258 / Sending WAV voice messages
« on: 2024-11-20, 21:12:59 »
I regularly use N1MM Logger to send stored MC files as CW messages via F-key activation.  I have stored voice messages in my computer as WAV files.  How can I connect the computer soundcard output (via the headphone jack) to the RRC?  I assume a cable with micro-plug input and RJ-45 connector that can plug into the I/O port.  Need cable advice and I/O settings.  Anyone?

Is there any likelihood of an update to v2.95?  Would the 1258 benefit from a general "tuneup"?

General discussion forum / I/O settings for paddle
« on: 2024-06-26, 20:12:39 »
I have been using two RRC1258's and two FTDX5000's in Yaesu Twin config for five years.  I am not satisfied with the CW generated by the RRC.  What are the optimal I/O settings?  I currently have the folowing I/O settings at the Control radio:

IN0           I/O
OUT0        Keyer
OUT1        Keyer
OUT2        Keyer
USB RTS   COM1
USB DTR   COM2

At the Remote radio:

OUT0 Mode     Keyer
OUT0 on/fff     Off

OUT1 Mode     Keyer
OUT1 on/off    Off

OUT2 Mode     Keyer
OUT2 on/off    Off

I have a speaker in parallel with the SP output of the Control RRC.  With my FTDX5000 off, I can generate excellent CW with my Begali paddle.  When I actually key the radio, I am not totally satisfied with the quality of the CW sent over the air.  Stations copy it well enough, but it is sometimes described as "choppy" or--my term--"sloppy"  My question is:  What are the recommended settings for your RRC at the Control and Remote sites?  I use N1MM+ logger with Winkey checked, but that is not a RRC-related setting.  Just curious what settings I might want to change for improved transmitted CW.

I continue to have issues connecting my control RRC1258 to the remote unit.  I have solved a problem in the past by reimporting the saved .bin file for the control unit from the most recent configuration.  I tried that again today without success.  I replaced the RRC with a backup unit, a more recent build with all the current firmware.  When I tried importing the saved .bin file, I got this error message:  "Invalid settings file, wrong id tag!"

What does that mean?  Is the .bin file not successfully imported?  How do I correct this problem?  The RRC's are not communicating.

I have used the Webswitch 1216-H for rotator control since last year.  A month ago, the lower 75 percent of the compass display suddenly disappeared.  The indicator and all the buttons are visible and are working properly, but I am missing most of the compass.  What would be the solution to this one?

General discussion forum / RRC1258 with bug vs. paddle

What are the settings to use a bug instead of a paddle via the RRC1258?  I could not seem to find a definitive statement in the user manual.

I use N1MM Logger to send stored CW messages in contests.  For SSB contests I want to send stored WAV files.  I obviously have the WAV files in the correct directory--when I hit F4, I can hear my call in headphones connected to the headphones jack on the computer, but the audio is not getting to the mic input of the Remoterig.  The mic of my Heil headset is working fine.  I need some advice, I'm clearly doing something wrong.  Do the I/O settings have to be changed?

General discussion forum / Remoterig MkIIS Yaesu Twin
« on: 2021-09-17, 17:15:41 »
Is this a new product with amended software for Yaesu Twin operation?  I have my FTdx-5000's operating in Yaesu Twin, but still have certain radio functions that do not seem to pass via the RRC.  My remote unit is S/N 13733.  I have two control units, S/N 13802 and S/N 6954.  All are MkIIS units.  Is the Yaesu Twin version different, or is it just the internal strapping that determines the "gender" of the box?

I see a couple of posts by members using this amplifier.  I would like to connect with anyone using that amp with an FT5000.  George VA2EBI-W1EBI

What exactly is the subtle difference between Mode 6 and Mode 7?  I've read the user manual, but I am having difficulty understanding the explanation.  Since I use N1MM Logger at Control RRC COM1 to control the radio, what different functionality would Mode 7 provide?

General discussion forum / Problem with mic input

I assume the RRC wants to see a dynamic mic. My Heil HM10 keys my control FT5000 directly. The Heil push button mic keys the remote radio through the RRC, but that mic is not useful for phone contesting via VOX. However the same HM10 will not key the remote radio via VOX. What could be my configuration problem?

Is there a mic cable available for the 3.5mm mic plug on my Yamaha headset?  Looking for 3.5mm to RJ45.

Configuration, RRC 1258 / Help configuring RRC for new user
« on: 2020-02-03, 19:39:34 »
I have used a RRC for a K3/0 connecting to RemoteHamRadio stations in the New York area.  That was several years ago.  I am now working to set up a pair of Yaesu FTdx-5000's in a Yaesu Twin remote network from my Control location in Massachusetts to the Radio location in Quebec.  I purchased a new pair of RRC's and the Yaesu Twin accessory pack.  I downloaded the Setup Manager and I'm looking at the DOS screen after connecting one of the new RRC's.  My home network consists of a Linksys ACS router behind a Verizon router.  The IP address of my PC is not the standard 192.168.1.xx.  When I connected one of the new RRC's to my pc, the Autoconfig IPV4 address is quite different, and there is no Default Gateway.  And I don't know the IP address of the network in Quebec that it will be connected to.  At last, my question:  how should I change the IP's of the new RRC's for the Control and Radio end of this planned remote network?
