Hi

Thanks to all for help, its working now. Thanks to Mitch for remotely accessing and advice.

There were a number of issues here, firstly, my lack of knowledge of networking, we found an issue that was not allowing the DDNS to be updated and also the router was not allowing ports to be forwarded, in a seperate post ive left a link to a great web site for port forwarding information and simple testing tools to see if your ports are open or closed. To resolve the router we did a factory reset and re-loaded the firmware.

Thanks again for all the help.

Configuration of Routers, Firewalls, etc / Port Testing
« on: 2012-12-29, 12:41:11 »
Hi All

Here is a link to a very handy Web page that has some very good Port forwarding guides, examples and simple testers.

If like me, your not too familure with how to Port Forward then this is a good place to start for some info, I found it difficult to know if it was me, the RRC or my Router that was causing the problems, the forum and tools make it a lot easier, in the end ive found that it is the router that is at fault.

Hi Mike

Thanks for your reply, I ordered a WRT 54GL, but only when received it i realised that it a router only, so do i now also now need a modem, or can i use the existing Huawei modem? but if the problem is with the huawei, have i just wasted my money buying the WRT 54GL?

can anyone suggest a modem router, that is known to work so i can put the Huawei in the bin.

Hi All

Merry Christmas and thanks to all for the replies.

Thanks to Mitch who connected remotely to my pc the other night and we now have DDNS updating at the remoterig dynDNS.

However, we are still unable to connect from outside my LAN to the web server or turn on the radio.  My ISP tell me that they DO NOT block any ports!, My router is a Huawei HG520b with the latest firmware.

Here is a question i cant seem to get an answer for, with the radio RRC connected up, should an online port open tester / tool be able to detect if the ports are open.

All the best for the New Year

Hi All

Ive been playing about with this RRC for about 6 months now and have NEVER managed to connect from outside my own network, ive been trying again recently, but no mater what i do i cannot get the ddns to update when i check it at http://www.remoterig.com/wp/?page_id=1481

Can anyone help.

Im using the following

Icom IC706mkii ( works fine on my LAN)
ISP talktalk
router Huawei HG520b
Product 1258
Serial number 2066

I saw an earlier post about problems with early serial numbers? could this be it.

Someone please help as im about to give up once and for all.

Hi All

Im having lots of problems getting my system to work, I currently have no access to internet other than my 3G dongle and home internet.
I have been unable to get the RRC to connect from 3G. the orange light on the control RRC flashes and i get the error tone.

Everthing within my LAN is ok.

Ive checked http://ddns.remoterig.com/status and my IP is not updating? ive set the radio RRC to 10mins and restarted the box but nothing so far. do these accounts lockout like dyndns does?

I am able to access the Radio RRC Web server using 3G but am unable to turn on my IC706, ive been manually entering my routers external IP address to do this, as the external IP is no longer updating as above.

I also have a few other questions, Please bear with me as i am no networking expert.

I am able to use http://canyouseeme.org/ to see if the ports on my router are open.
I can see port 90 ( webserver ) as open but none of the others, should i be able to see the UDP ports open?

Am i missing something obvious? Im using www.three.ie for my 3G connection.

Not having another network to try and test from is not helping troubleshooting.

Dave

Hi Mitch

Ive set DHCP, the green light is now on constant, but still cannot turn radio on, orange light is flashing on AUX/MIC connection.

The only way i can access to make setting changes is to plug it into my router and access 192.168.0.227.

When connected to the Laptop internet sharing how do i connect to check/adjust settings?

Regards

Dave

Hi All

Ive been trying without success to share WiFi or 3G from my Win7 Laptop to RRC.

Im able to share internet from Laptop rj45 to another laptop but am unable to get RRc to connect when using Wifi within my LAN or 3G when outside.

Also this might seem like a silly question but how do you connect to the control RRC when at a remote site to adjust parameters?

General discussion forum / IC 706 MK II Power Up ?
« on: 2012-05-28, 19:05:23 »
Hi All

My first post so hello all,

I recently bought a second hand RRC 1258 MK ii to use with my IC 706 MK ii

Not having much success and wonder if anyone can help.

Ive setup both radio and control RRC's as per the manual, ive made the cable and tested it and it works ok.

Ive connected both RRC's to my network and can ping them and open the web browser no problem

When i connect the control head for the IC 706 MKii and press the power button i can hear the relay in the Radio click, then drop put again, the control head does not power up.

Ive checked the jumpers and all is correct although i did find that some of them broke easily.

Ive tried different power supplies at the control end and this has not worked.

Can anyone suggest something else i may have over looked or a method of testing ive not tried?

Regards
