Fellows, I only know enough to get myself in trouble, so please bear with me.
I have a setup that works well in connecting to my own K3 home station.  I use the K0 mini and RRC-1258 MKII at the control station.
I have not touched it in a couple of years and have forgotten much of what I once had learned. (Getting old.)
I want to also setup so I can connect to other K3 stations.
First order of business is to not mess up what is working.  How do I save and load configurations for my control station?

I have changed 1258 units.  My old unit had been working with ddns.remoterig. just fine, but with the new serial number it does not.  I have been addressing it with the actual numeric address.  I would like to restore the ddns.remoterig service.
Do I need a new host name or can the serial number be updated?  I am looking for the instructions for proper setup.

My friend just arrived with an "offbrand" com/usb adapter, and indeed that was the problem.  Using a new adapter, everything works fine.

I had labeled my cables in the past to eliminate such a problem.  I see no way to have a cable problem unless one was somehow left out.
I suspect the KUSB (COM to RS-232 adapter).  I see no other way that the RRC could be "unknown disconnected".

This has to be soooo simple, but:
I moved the station, recabled everything.
When I bring up MSM, FW/HW says "unknown disconnected".
COM1 of RRC goes thru com to USB adapter to USB of computer.  Also have the FSK line running from left side to RRC (usb port) to the computer USB.  K3 is connected via RS232 to the rear RS232 of the RRC. Internet cable runs from Ethernet jack on back of RRC-1258 to the router (hard wire).   Both lights are on at the RRC internet connector, green light blinks,  and I get no disconnected tones.

I am able to remotely bring up both the amp and rotor, but the k3 does not connect.
Everything has been restarted a couple of times.  Please point out to me how stupid I must be ...

I try to display the "T" to control my equipment.  I have one for the rotor, and one for the amplifier.
I may get a display of everything but the face of the rotor.  If I click the "rotor" word in the left column, it will display.

Or, I may get the T displayed empty with a frown face the gives me a hover message "server closed without sending data".

Or I may bet a message at times "A network change was detected".  And no display at all.

The URL for the location is still the same.  Entering all numeric URL may produce these same results.

Usually repeated sending of the URL will finally get a complete display.

Any ideas?

I don't know if this is Remoterig, K3, or internet - But, I get sudden changes in volumes.  It may be 10 db. or so.
Sometime I hit the CW key and it picks up.
Anyone else?  Are there parms that help?

Well Mitch, here is a new one to remember.
I switched USB ports on the computer, and everything works!
There must have been some USB3 vs. USB2 issue involved.
Now, once again, I am thrilled with the results.

As you can see, it is defined as RTTY.  When I completely unplug audio lines to the computer, there are no changes.
Today I am going to move the RRC Control line to other ports on the computer in case there is something sensitive there.
After that, I suppose I will indeed use AFSK instead.

(I am not sure the attach function is working)

Here is the part that makes no sense.

I listened to the headphone output of computer, and it dawdles ok.  So that means its is downstream from there.  Maybe a cable to the audio input of the RRC-1258.

To test that, I put the old computer back and used the same cables.  It works fine.
?????????????????????

If I am getting the correct computer audio output for  audio input to the RRC-1258 it should work!

Then I listened to the SP output from the RRC-1258 and it is one tone.

Baffled in Baltimore.

I seem to have one final problem.
I am using FSK, com6.
But instead of rtty I am getting a single tone.
Is there something I may have missed?

This has been easy to do.
With that info, I think everything is working.
The biggest effort was not with Remoterig, but with moving over my DXLABS setup.
I have not found a way to control my rotor operation from a spot on DX Spotter, but that's the same as the old computer.
Control from the rotor icon works just fine.
My thanks and congratulations to you guys for such an excellent system.

My ports do not include a COMPSK port.
See  the attachment.
