Configuration, Webswitch 1216H / Webswitch access
« on: 2015-02-14, 23:01:21 »
Is the webswitch designed to be directly accessed and controlled via Ethernet or must it be controlled via the RRC by filling in the 1216H port information via Microbit setup manager.

I guess I was thinking it is a standalone switch I can use to switch Beverage antenna directions but Im getting confused on how to do that as I am not finding the complete user/setup manual online like I did the RC-1216H I have to control the amplifier.
Sorry for the stupid questions but maybe like the RTTY stuff, Im just making this too tough.

Thank you Mike for the explanation...as I mentioned above in my long post..The remote K3 will decode RTTY via the internal TEXT decoder al day long as long as the Control K3 is shut off:-)   I may get a chance to turn on the Control K3 and let the RRC connect and pull cables one at a time on the Remote to see which one is shutting down the clean decoding of rtty text.  Otherwise the moment I turn on the Control K3/0 the Remote K3 TEXT decoding turns to garbage print.   maybe there is an intermittent cable problem.        To be continued.......
Regards to all for the ideas,

There is a small item I have noticed in the Radio and Control RRC I/O settings.     I cannot change the Radio RRC I//O setting for the OUT0 Mode....  It always stays at 'connect' mode.  I did change the Radio OUT1 Mode setting to 'Baudot-RTTY/45(inv)' however....  still nothing but random gibberish decodes.

On the Control RRC end the only settings I have to choose from  under the I/O Tab for the OUT0 mode is either 'connect' or keyer'  for the choices...(some RTTY instructions call for choosing the 'I/O' input but I don't have that choice.)   I chose to set the control RRC I/O Tab  OUT0 mode to 'connect' to match the RRC -Radio end I/O OUT0 mode.
Im not sure if this is of any consequence or not.

My RRC radio Program Mode is 14- K-3 Twin and the RRC's are from Elecraft with their strapping already installed.  The serial settings are Com1 = Mode 7 and my logginf program DX Labs is connected to the radio via a serial to serial cable from RRC Com 1 to PC serial port 2.   (this prevents dropouts between the logger and radio much better than using the mini usb virtual port assigned to com1 on the RRC.)

What you are describing is exactly what we have tried yet neither the K3 onboard TEXT decoder works or any other method to decode RTTY.  Don't know what is  so different between a K3/mini and an older K3/0 at the control end.

Hi Dave,  Well I have a similar issue and Ive tried everything also.   I cant even get RTTY to decode directly on the K3/0 from the remote K3 let alone with an external program like MMTTY.... yet all settings are per the Microbit 1258 RTTY setup instructions as well as other INET sources you noted below.

I was hoping that someone with a K3 and K3/0 combo that is actually working with would be willing to share both their RRC units configuration files in HTML format so we could stare and compare to find exactly what might be wrong.  Otherwise Im in the same situation as you are with RTTY.

Dave can you decode RTTY with the onboard text decoder of the K3?  We  can as long as the Control end (K3/0) is shut off...  Once we establish connection to the remote radio via the RRC,s then the TTY decoding turns to gibberish.   Guess this is beyond my pay grade too :-)

Aha..2 items: Forgot to turn Com 1 USB support off and forgot the Null modem serial cable.  The real reason I wanted to try the serial connection was to stop the periodic radio connection dropouts when using the mini usb and virtual com port connection.

I am using a K3/0 (not mini) and a K3/100 for remoteing.....Has anyone experienced random keying up of the K3 for very short duration... sort of like what you would get by intentionally hitting the dit side of the keyer at 30 wpm..   This started happening just a day or so ago while we have been trying settings to get RTTY working (NO success there either)   I can sometimes trigger the xmit  by fast tuning the K3/) control unit.   I would love to have someone send their RRC settings (html) so I can see if maybe something is wrong in my particular settings that may be causing this.
Also:  I installed an FTDI serial to USB cable on the control unit com#1 (comes up as port16) and tried using that port for the Logger but the logging program doesn't recognize it at all so I still need to use the mini usb port Com1 (virtual port 4) for DX Labs Logger control.  (question.. if I use the Com 1 rs232 on the RRC Control can I also use the mini usb Com 1?)

Ha...added the additional Web port for the RC-1216H and all is well...  Operator error.... thanks Mitch.

General discussion forum / Access to RC1216 Acom2000 view

We installed a RC1216H unit at the Remote to monitor/control the Acom2000a.  We prt forwarded 13010 as the control port.  Shouldn't I be able to access the Acom2000a view on the Control end PC by just inputting the Remote IP#  and the port #?       such as 76.178.XXX.XXX :13010

Ok thanks guys,  I made the "assumption" that since the serial numbered unit was registered by the previous owner at his remote router location that I would cause problems by initiating another registration of the same serial number.
BTW:  everything is working fine so far with k3/0 to k3.  Just need to get various peripherals connected and operational now. Waiting for the RPON unit to finish the RC-1216H connection to the Acom2000 amp. Thanks Mitch for your helpful information.

How do I find what hostname was assigned to the 1258 units I purchased off another fellow?   I want to register them at Microbit DDNS service.

Followup.  This was answered via email from SM2O when I ordered the RC1216H.  I CAN use the WEBSWITCH 1216H for controlling the remote device direction switching.

I just ordered an RC1216H for control of the Acom2000a amp but was not sure what I need to remote switch a HI-Z receiving 4 square or for 2 way Beverage antenna direction selection.  Do I need just the webswitch 1216H?  Is anyone doing this now..If so what equipment do I need.  I am trying to keep with all Ethernet switching with Microbit as there is no computer at the Remote site.
Thanks for any info

Thanks for the information...  The planned radio configuration is the K3/mini and a single receiver equipped K3 at the remote.

I should add that this slow speed DSL connection is at the REMOTE end...  This end at the Control station is 24Mbps down and 10Mbs up.   The remote site is nearly 24 miles distant (road miles)   The DSL service at the Remote end is over 15000ft from the CO and on what is called extended range circuits.
