Hi Greg,

Drop me a mail at dj0qn (at) darc.de and I will send you my latest checklist version to help you out.
The networking part is difficult for many people, but this is basically plug&play once it is set-up.

Configuration, RRC 1258 / Re: Begining setup questions

Hi Greg,

Send me an e-mail to dj0qn (at) darc.de and I will make you a check list to use for your set-up.
It should answer most of your questions.

I do consider it important to be able to access both your radio RRC and router remotely. This means
that the RRC should use a different web port than the standard 80.

You should put the DynDNS into either the router or the RRC, but not both! If you do use the RRC, then
change the default 10 minutes to 24 hours, otherwise the service locks-up (unless you have a paid account).
The router is better, since it only updates DynDNS if the IP number actually changes.

If you enter the DynDNS address into your browser, it gives you whatever in your network responds. All the
DynDNS address does is to point you to the correct IP address.

The Netgear adapter works great.

Hi Gianni,

That is super feedback, thanks a lot!

I will pass this on to the guys setting this up where we need to use this feature. Hopefully
you are not the only one using this, just the only one telling us about it  ;)

Hi Guy,

I updated the firmware in the control FT-2000 today.

I don't have time to make a detailed check of the control inconsistency problem, maybe
that has been improved. Also, the sound may be louder now, but that needs some more
testing as well. It for sure did not solve the problem with the antenna selection in split.

Hi Guy,

That is maybe a good point..... as you know, I am having some problems with
my Twin FT-2000's. The one in the station is the newest firmware, but the control
one is the one before. I wonder of that could be making a difference?

Hi Natale,

You can use the profile feature to connect up to 5 different stations.

Log onto your control RRC and click on the Profiles menu. It is self-explanatory.

Adde,

Just to be on the safe side....make sure you have a real serial cable between the FT-897 and COM2 of the RRC.
Once you configure COM2 on the RRC, it should then work correctly.

Good news, I found the location of the "bug", it is in my brain. I drove to my station today, then
did a hardware reset and completely reconfigured the RRC. Tonight it occurred to me what the
cause was:

I found another problem in August with the PC Client not working with the Yaesu Twin, that
problem is described in the thread at http://www.remoterig.com/forum/index.php?topic=920.0

Mike started a mail dialogue with me and I gave him access to my system, but changed the
web password at that time. I expected this to be quickly tested and then I would change the
password back, but this never got resolved, so the password never changed back. I forgot
all about it.

So now you can all see my red face  :-[

However, the open issue list should contain this PC Client problem, so here is the updated list:

- PC Client can not turn on radio Yaesu Twin RRC
- Low audio output, no difference how JMP4 is set (using amplified PC speakers)
- Changing antennas in split uses only the last one set by the radio side on the B VFO
- Some controls are inconsistent, such as power output. Haven't spent time trying all controls

So I am still not letting you off that easy  ;)

General discussion forum / New Bug in Yaesu Twin
« on: 2011-09-22, 14:32:40 »
Yet something else strange came-up.....I can no longer access my radio RRC, it does not accept my user
name and password. Since I use the same name/password for both RRC's in that station and have made
changes before, this must be a bug in 2.41 on the Yaesu Twin. There is no other way to explain it. There is no
one else that has access and it is "hidden" behind the router. I also tried telnet with the same problem. And of
course this is the only RRC I use that I forgot to backup the config file, so it will be some work when I can get
a chance to make a hardware reset. Oh well.

To summarize the open issues I have with Yaesu Twin with 2.41 (FT-2000 --> FT-2000):

- User name/password stopped working
- Low audio output, no difference how JMP4 is set (using amplified PC speakers)
- Changing antennas in split uses only the last one set by the radio side on the B VFO
- Some controls are inconsistent, such as power output. Haven't spent time trying all controls

Sorry to be a pain, guys  ;)

Ok, Hemanth, let me know if you need some help. Speak to you next week!

The QTH is in the eastern part of Munich, Hermanth. The old one was north of the city.

The bridge I suggested is first connected to your PC, where you logon and authenticate.
The MAC address then goes into the local Radius server and should allow the RRC to work
afterwards. The problem is when you need a second connection for your PC and the
connection is not free. Then another solution may be better. Here is a similar thread:
http://www.remoterig.com/forum/index.php?topic=868.msg3497#msg3497

I hope this helps.

Thanks, Hemanth,

The case was not finished for those photos, there is a hinged door covering the back of the case.
The cover inside contains the RRC and a lithium battery (theoretically 9.8 Ah @ 12.6v).

The shack is my old one. I now have a new QTH and have a better set-up there. I can even raise
and lower the mast remotely.

I am leaving town Friday for the weekend, best to catch me next week during your morning.

Speak to you then.

My pleasure, Hemanth.

No problem, we can speak by phone or Skype (mitchwo). I have helped a few people out who
were completely frustrated. Once the network stuff works, it is almost plug-and-play.

I lent out my go-box for a couple of weeks, but have some early photos that I have
uploaded.
