Roland, amazing that people have nothing better to dowith thier time. If they used the net for what it was intended, things would be much better.

I have an update:

I did try another computer using XP... no joy

I went back panel by panel in the client and noticed that I have a password in the SIP panel along with my DNS name. I removed it and connected via DNS reference.

I then connected a normal CAT 5 cable between the RRC AUX/MIC and teh 706 mic plug. I connected via the client and the radio immediately jumped into XMIT mode.  I do not yet have the C-IV connected, but will do that today.

I will also look into another headset.

regards
mike

I have no idea how I got all that trash. I have tried two other things. The radio is turned off, so I can not actually communicate, but thought I would toss this in.

I configured the client to go directly to my external IP. Hit connect and immediately got a connection.  I get indicators that the audio stream was present.

I think configure the client to use my dyndsn host. I hit connect, never get the connect message, but, if I connect via brower to my base, the info shows I am connected. I am using verizon balackberry thethered to the netwbook. I have attached a debug log.

If I click connect again, I do get the disconnect icon but no confirmation of the connect. So I am thinking there is something broken on my dns (maybe).

I will try another computer after work.

I appreciate all the help

Computers are harder than radios!

Thanks to Roland, I have a client that installs, but I can not get it to work properly.

When i am on the local LAN, the client will connect to the MK2 and 706. I get a really nice green bar indicating audio stream present.

I get no sound.

attached is my device manager page, the sound card properties page and a debug session.

I have not even tried the HRD piece to control the radio.

I have the 706 connected to the MK2 via a normal cat 5 cable.

If I use the PPT, the radio goes into xmit, but will not return to receive.

If I try to connect the system via my dnydns it never connects. When I use the two MK2 device, every thing works great.

I cannot firgure out what I am doing wrong. any help would be greatly appreciate.

Happy Holidays
Mike

capture of second error screen

Roland, Thank you for your support.

I am running windows 7 english. attached are my settings. There is a second screen with errors, but it flashes by without being readable.  I believe all errors are the same.

The com ports are installed as ports 9-11. The install runs slightly differenet than the script posted on the web site. The comports are installed one at a time via a command script. they process so quickly it is not possible to follow the output.

I do have HRD Beta 5 loaded and it works well with my radio and this computer. I also have echolink, paclink, and airmail loaded.

I had an issue with my 706 ... check your COM0 baud rate. I corrected that per/instructions and things work correctly.

Actually, when i started back tracking, I found the radio itself to be damaged. I put a new control cable on and it did the same thing, so I put the control head on the body of the radio and again it did the same thing.

So I just shipped the radio back to ICOM for repair. I will play with my 703+ until they return the 706.

THANKS FOR THE SUPPORT!

General discussion forum / 706 high pitched noise on xmit
« on: 2010-06-12, 03:33:27 »
tried to use the rig on a net and had nasty high pitched (almost sounds like data burst) noise on my transmit. It almost covered my voice audio.

I tried chokes on cat 5 ethernet and both control and radio 1258 with no joy.

has anyone experienced something like this?

I am using the remote on the internal network, before I Move it to the internet.

My setup is 706 radio connected to router via cat5

contol head connected via linksys ethernet wireless bridge using DHCP. Heil hedset and standard hand mic with motorola speaker.

It seems that the volume both on the headset and the speaker is low. I have to increase it by using the control head dial.

Is this a normal situation or perhaps due to my setup?

It is a great system, however and I do enjoy the ability to move around the QTH.

Things seem to work but it seems to me my

CORRECTED

Just tback of travel, and have the remote rig setup working.

The problem was simple over site and improper baud rate on COM0. Reset it to 19200 and things work like a champ.
