It sounds you need a 4 wire send receive with keying
you could use the remote rig boxes in transperent 4 wire mode, the PTT and Mute lines can be send over the keyer I/O ports
just need to run VLAN or IPSEC network for your base and remote location radio location.
Im using a pair of remote rig boxes over a 3G link at my remote HF Station

If your happy to pay more (my research found 6 times) than a pair of remote rig boxes, you can use carrier VoIP grade boxes, we have used them at work for a 4 wire E&M PBX link

Multi VoIP Brand boxes are a clone of a pair of remote rig boxes

General discussion forum / Low bit rate CODEC option ?
« on: 2010-08-25, 09:25:20 »
I have a problem with my 3G wireless ISP (Telstra Bigpond) having a economy plan I get 64kbit shaped datarate, after I exceed my data  1GByte allowence. :(
I have 10 acres on my weekender  bush block, have some long wire antennas, very low noise, 300watt solar power setup, a pair of the RemoteRig interfaces with my Icom IC718 be ideal :)
Please Please can you introduce low bit rate codecs (G729 GSM G726) to allow to operate on a 64kbit data rate.
If you offer a low bit rate codec, you will sell heaps in Australia, and outside of USA and Europe where  dont have unshaped broadband.

Im very keen to use the remote rig  net interfaces, my problem is I have a remote location that is off Grid (Solar Powered) and net connection is via a 3G wireless internet service, the 3G service I have will shape to 64kbit after 3 Gbyte of use for a month.
We do spend time on the weekends and chew up our data allownece  :-[
I can see a problem if im shaped to 64kbit I cannot use G711 codecs (85kbit)
Will there be a update to GSM/G729/G726 codecs to support connection rate of under 64kbit
It would be perfect for my remote HF use.
Regards :)
