Yes I can switch off the sleeptimer of the Icom.

But if I switch the Icom off manually, wait 10 minutes, than I find the ports I configured in both RRCs and router don't want to connect anymore.

If I reconfigure the SIP ports in RRC to another number and forward those in the remote router all works again ( temporarily...until the next time I turn off the Icom...)

It is just as if the SIP port is first accepted, but dropped after a while of inactivity..

Hi Guy,

Yes the R2500 has a sleep timer but would that be a problem for the RRCs?

The funny thing is that I also run a remote SDR using just 1 port (7900)
And that one always works.

The R2500 has to be re-ported for every session.

It seems like the Remoterig UDP ports are always dropped after some time and I have to assign new ports and forwarding to make it work again. These ports are not reported to be used by other services.

The webbrowsers (port 80) are always reachable though, so port 80 is fine.

It is very strange...

What I did now:

-I made two port forwards for SIP 5060 and 5061 on radio side.
-I keep switching both RRC's between SIP 5060 and 5061 for every remote session with Icom R2500.

My question: what could be the reason for each port to be de-activated when its not in use?
I can't find where and why the ports are dropped all the time...

I'm puzzled by the following:

My www remote R2500 works as long as it stays on.
After a period unused it will not reconnect, giving SIP error.

When I change SIP port (for example to 5061) and reconfigure my NAT router portforwarding all works again untill switched off for a longer period.

Again and again I have to reconfigure ports and forwarding for every session,
But every time the R2500 is unused for a length of time connection is lost again.

I'm lost in a reconfiguring-loop,meaning I'm still more behind a computer than the R2500...
Access to both RRCs and router (fixed IP) is no problem.

Aarrrghhh!

Face turned red now....

Thanks!

But Mike,
The drawings show 6pin-to-6pin, not RJ45 (8pin) !
I'm getting more and more lost here :-)

Okay Mike,

Ubbe has mailed me the workaround using the R2500 via the AUX/MIC bus on pin 2/7.
That should work.

With TTL connections in the diagram R2500 doesn't power up.

Hello Mike,

I connected the R2500 as per the manual, but the R2500 will not power up.
This is also what Ubbe stated in the past, but it is unclear what the solution is.
I don't understand the alternative cabling via the AUX/MIC bus.

He said RRC MK1 did work but MK2 doesn't work over the TTL ports.

Hi Mike,

There is an "Ubbe" in the Swedish section of this forum saying you shouldn't use the TTL port but the AUX/MIC port instead.
And there is a Greek user also saying to have problems , with the on/off switch?

But if you have a R2500 yourself and working via TTL, I'll start making cables :-)
IC703 works fb...

I see several remarks in this forum that the Icom R2500 is not working correctly with Remoterig.
(some of them unfortunately in Swedish ;-)
Before making cables, could anyone shed a light?
Is the R2500 working if connected by the RRC manual?

Related to this:
Would it be possible to connect both the IC-703 (on aux/mic)  and a R-2500 receiver ( on TTL)  to one RRC,
and simply switch profiles with the browser settings?

General discussion forum / 2 radios on 1 RRC possible ?
« on: 2010-09-18, 22:22:24 »
Hi group,

Next to my IC-703 I would like to attach a second radio (wideband RX) to my RRC.
This receiver is controlled by the RS232 port.

Question: how could I merge the audio from the 2 radios together?
Are the audio inputs of AUX/MIC and TTL busses seperated or do they merge inside the RRC? Is there a strapping audio together trick? Or should I do this externally?

It would be great to control (and hear) both radios over a single www connection!

Hi,

Any update on 2nd remote head availability?

Hi,

I'm using the remoterig pair with great pleasure but have one remark:
The audio response seems quite limited at the low end of the audio spectrum.

The radio I use (an IC703) already has limited LF response, but I have a feeling the low frequency cutoff with Remoterig becomes cascaded.

I.o.w. Low frequencies are cut first at the radio HPF, than at the radio-RRC HPF and finally again at the CTRL-RRC. Net result (to my ears) is a very limited response of low frequency audio content.

I don't need hifi audio but a response from, say, 50Hz to 4/12kHz (depending on Fs) would be good for all modes, both for communications and SWLing. I am also planning to use my Icom R2500, which is used for AM/FM bradcast as well...

I hope Mike&Microbit will consider to make the HPF selectable for the Remoterig system, this will make it more versatile for non strictly communications audio.
