Did you keep the web server port on 80?
If not, you should use the RRC IP followed by : and the new port.

Btw,not the first time I read about a USB cable problem...

Have you installed with the RRC connected?

Hi Howard,

When installing the Microbit Setup Manager, the virtual COM ports are also installed.
This is quite a long process taking place in the background.

Are you sure you allowed the installer to finish creating all 4 COM ports?

You can verify this in the Windows Device Manager, there is a row of RRC1258 ports under COM & LPT.

Great!

Very nice addition to the RRC family.
Also opens new possibilities for the "headless" radios.

Hope to test a IC7100 version in the future.

General discussion forum / Re: Nano RRC basic questions

Hi,

Good to see you are developing more for the android platform!

Basic newbie questions:
-Does the Android app connect directly to the remote radio RRC?
-Or do you still need a server computer on the radio end?
-If so, since the server is an "app", I assume an Android computer is needed at the radio end?
-Can you run both the normal RRC and a nano server at the radio end?

I can't really visualize a schematic yet how this nano system works and integrates with an existing RRC installation.

Nice!

If a hotspot is not possible on the mobile device I was thinking to use one of those miniature wifi extenders as hotspot. You could pre-program this in the RRC wlan list and use it to reach the RRC webbrowser.

Enough possibilities to leave Windows at home :-)

I also see quite some topics on Android OTG to ethernet adapters.

http://www.aliexpress.com/item/Ethernet-10-100-USB-or-OTG-RJ45-adapter-Network-Lan-for-Windows-or-Android-Tablet-PC/708862392.html

Ideally, it would be good to have both RRC and Wifi built into the IC7100 head with a wifi antenna on the back.
The LCD touch screen could have a network settings menu :-)

I know, I get completely carried away now...

Hi Jan,

I see the direct access difficulty.

Most Androids offer something like "wifi direct".
I think IOS as well.

I use a Belkin Wemo wifi networked switch which can boot up in such a "wifi direct" mode, to make the network settings via Wifi without AP.

On the RRC a certain click sequence of the reset button could be usable to enter a wifi access mode.

Just some thoughts from a happy user who likes to reduce his Microsoft dependancy :-)

So what I mean is a highly "stripped" setup manager on Android.

Only to set the network, wlan and password settings.

Hi,

While travelling I have carried my RRC and TS-480/IC-7100 control head several times to different locations.
The RRC and head form a nice compact travelling kit, however....

A laptop&PSU always has to come along **only to adjust the RRC network settings** on location!
There is nothing else I use the good old laptop for anymore ;-)

Would it be possible to just edit the Wlan/password/IP settings from an android device or even via direct wifi?
If only the Wlan access settings could be done via Android, all other settings would be available via the webbrowser anyway.

Would save a few kg on hand luggage.

Asking €250 total (RRC + Wifi card + Shipping EU)
Pse contact me off list or see QRZ.com

Like Mike says, investigate what other devices are polling your local network on either (client and server) side.

Disable them one by one to see what device is causing the intervals.
Often these are streaming applications.

If you are using wifi card(s) for the RRC(s) : check RSSI in Wifi scan menu.
