On the radio side (remote), you only need a serial 9 pin straight cable from TS2000 to Remoterig COM2. On the control side (home), an RS232 9 pin is not necessary because you can use USB cable provided by remoterig with the virtual serial port option and drivers. Since it is working, just try the virtual serial USB driver option to save yourself an RS232 cable.

I forgot to mention in step 7. When I say "turn on" I mean press on button on RC-2000 so the remoterigs initiate a connection and TS2000 turns on. Ther must be connected before serial communications works. Also you can lower the baud rate if necessary (slow connection due to limited bandwidth, choppy audio etc).

I use a TS2000 remotely with Ham Radio Deluxe. You need to do the following:
1. Menu 56 set baud rate to 57600.
2. In your remoterig radio serial setting, use COM2. Set to Mode-4, baudrate 57600, data bit 8, stop bit 1, parity off (leave terminator 00 default), save and reset
3. Do the same on the remoterig control, and set the "use USB COM port as COM2" to yes, so you can use USB cable virtual COM port.
4. Connect USB cable from PC to remoterig control, and check to see you have virtual drivers installed. Reinstall the Microbit Setup manager if necessary again to install virtual drivers
5. In Windows 7 device manager, check to see what com port on your PC corresponds to COM2. You should see something under PORTS: RRC1258 COM2 (COM4) as an example
6. Connect an RS232 9 pin straight cable between the TS2000 and COM2 of the remoterig radio straight cable.
7. Turn on TS2000
7. On your PC, run Ham radio deluxe, and setup a new connection (Connect, new) and select Kenwood TS2000, COM4 (as example), speed 57600.
8. You should be able to connect

The above steps is exactly how mine is setup and in my case works perfectly.

Yes you can use HRD in client/server mode to handle radio control and Skype for audio streaming. Remoterig works as a pair with control/radio boxes. The control can also be the RRC Micro client used with a Windows PC, but will be limited only to audio (no CW).

I had a friend who bought the RRC control assuming that was all he needed, and when I explained he needed to purchase the RRC radio, became discouraged and sold the RRC control. The people at Ham Radio Outlet know this and gave me a call when I purchased a single RRC Radio unit for an additional installation I needed.

If you intend to use an ipad or iphone, use teamviewer and skype.

I am really optimistic to know this as I own a Yaesu FT-857 and would love to see this radio supported. Let me know if any remote beta-testing is needed.

For some reason 3 of his profiles have passwords set. Since he doesn't remember what they are, they cannot be used. He only uses 3 remote sites with TS480 at the moment, but any future uses of additional profiles will be a problem. Hopefully he will someday figure out what the passwords are. The default profile is his primary and most used so it is not a terrible issue at the moment, just an inconvenience.

Hello,
I have a friend who has an interesting situation. He wants to add another profile, but the profile has a password set and he doesnt know what it is. So we decided to do a factory reset. If we hold the reset button for a minute with the unit powereed on, and for 30 sec. with it powered off (like a router), the default profile is reset, but all the other ones are left intact. How can I fully reset ALL profiles and leave the unit totally factory default in ALL profiles?

Thanks

Hardware, Cabling, Installations / Remoterig for repair
« on: 2011-12-30, 06:22:26 »
Hello,

I have a Remoterig "radio" that does not power up. This happened after I was hit by lightning, damaging one Remoterig, but the other was not even connected to same radio, yet it will not power up. When I apply 12V to it, I can feel some components heat up as if power was being applied to them. What I think is the CPU (largest chip) feels warm to the touch. Is there a fuse? I believe the unit will power up if the "soft fuse" is replaced, but where is it and how can I fix it? Otherwise what is the cost of having the unit repaired? Since I am in FLorida, not sure if it's worth the cost of having it serviced. Let me know.

Hello,

Just to let everyone know KP2B contest club will be running in the CQWW SSB contest in the "extreme" category, running Remoterig from 4 different operating positions at the contest station in St. Croix, US Virgin Islands.

I am helping setup a contest station at KP2B and today we did lots of prep work here in Florida. One problem we found that took us hours to find is a bug in the firmware using a Kenwood TS-480. When we connected internally, there was a loud noise coming thru the audio stream, even though it was connecting and normal audio was passing. I took us hours ruling out all kinds of scenarios, and we even connected to my TS2000 and TMD700, which worked ok. It was only when we configured the TS480 that the problem showed up. We reverted to ver. 2.40 and now works perfectly. We never tested 2.41 with same scenario.

I have a non-working Remoterig for sale. Was hit by lightning, burnt power socket and board. I have a second one that was also hit, but doesn't look burned at all. Doesn't power up. Any offers? Contact me privately.

The pictures don't show the 12VDC connections? Any plan to hookup a battery?
