Am I the only one seeing this?

Hi Mike

I appreciate the answer.

Why do we not see the same thing when using the RRC Rig control?

Even with HRD and a Skype solution, I don't see the same issue.  The audio comes right up, which tells me that the audio is being sent.

All the credit card vendors will back you for internet purchases.  There is no risk if you do your shopping via a secure store online (starting with https://).

The brokerage charges are the same.  I had mine shipped by mail and I think it got delivered directly by Canada Post.

I guess it depends on how bad you want it.

I have RRC Micro on XP sp3, TS480, and HRD 5.23.

When you first start the Micro connection, there is no audio until you move the volume slider on HRD.

This took me a long time to figure out.  Should there not be audio once the radio starts?

I have RRCMicro crashing on XP sp3 32 bit.

It starts up fine, but after about 20-30 minutes, it crashes.  The current setup is on a local network the the Remote Rig.

The eventviewer shows an event type of clr20rs with a source of .Net 4.0 error.

Event ID is 5000.

General discussion / Re: Mico can't connect - timeout error
« on: 2011-10-30, 15:14:09 »
This is a strange problem.

I can connect to the radio via HRD using all the HRD solutions (client/server mode), but there is no way the Micro wants to connect.

So, I changed ports from 5061 way off the SIP range and now it has connected.

Now, have some audio issues to sort out.  Skype audio to the box is perfect though.  Strange.  Sadly, I can't use Skype for the TX audio to the radio for some reason.  (That is a totally different problem).

The audio is very choppy and more off than on.  This only happens on the Micro version.

General discussion / Mico can't connect - timeout error
« on: 2011-10-30, 05:08:10 »
In the middle of CQWW I had to fly from Toronto to San Jose CA for a meeting.

Now that I am in San Jose, I thought that it would be good to get use my RC Micro, however it is timing out  on the connection.

The IP address is correct as are all the port forwards on the router.  But, I keep getting timeout messages.  All 3 ports (SIP etc) are configured correctly.

The laptop is Win 7 64 Bit.  The firewall is off.

The log looks like :

Any ideas?  I doubt that it is outboud firewall issues as I can connect to the remote station and all the other non-standard ports I use.

General discussion forum / 2 Feature requests
« on: 2011-09-24, 01:55:29 »
I'm getting my setup really dialed in well.  I have 2 more weeks before I lock it up and I won't see it from mid October till mid April.

The very simple requests are:

1)  Can the disconnect tones be disabled?  The melody that is repeated 3 times should  you loose connect with the far end?  The reason I ask is that it is loud and if it happens late at night, it can wake up those that don't want to be woken (happened while I was working CW).

2)  In the case of the TS480 (maybe other radios as well), can we have the radio turn off, but the IP connection stay active?  I use the serial ports for some remote battery monitoring of my remote base.

Other than that, no complaints.

Thanks all

Mike va3mw

General discussion / Re: TS-480 Setup
« on: 2011-07-23, 04:43:37 »
That is too bad.

That leaves me with no choice but to return my RRC Micro PC client as I can't afford to give up that serial port.  I wish it was made clearer in the documentation.

If you think of it from my perspective, why would I have to plumb another rig control line into Com 2 when I already have one on Com 0?  Is the data  not the same or does the RRC Micro not do the conversion to the Kenwood  CAT format?

On your web page "http://www.remoterig.com/wp/?page_id=28" you say:

When installed the PC-Client presents 3 virtual comports which can all be used in the same way as in the hardware based system.

However it is clear that that is not possible, or am I missing something?  It was based on that that I purchased the RRC Micro.   When using the hardware solution, I use Com0 for the Rig control, Com1 for my LP-Remote and Com2 for my Elecraft watt meter.  The Watt meter is used to protect the amplifier as it also controls the amp PTT line.

On the PC end, I can see having to set up some virtual com ports in order for HRD to see the Kenwood radio data.  That part I get as it is something we do all the time with our Flex radios.

Mike, what are the chances that this could be patch in software so that I do NOT have to give up Com 2?  Also, what is the return policy of the RRC Micro I just received?  I can appreciate that you won't cover shipping either way, but I am looking for a full refund please.

General discussion / Re: TS-480 Setup

Let me expand on this.

I have the Micro connected to the remote end.  BTW, I also use a full fledged radio RRC with the control head.  What I want is the option to use either the control head from home, or the Micro when travelling.

Com 0 is connected to the TS480 at 57600

On the Micro end, I have Com 0 UPD port set to Com 11 (in this case) and mode 4.

Com 1 (my com9) and Com 2 (my com10) are required for my LP-Remote and my watt meter.

Control software is HRD

So, are you saying that I need to virtually map my com 11 to a different Com port that HRD will then be able to see (ie: Com21)?  I can do this with VSP Manager, so that isn't a problem.

Is there a manual that describes this?  I've looked but if there is one, I must have missed it.

If I have to give up a Com port to make this work, then the Micro is of no use to me and I might have to return it.

thanks

Hi Mike

I've tried in XP and I can't.  There is no option like there is on USB devices.

Have you tried?

Mike

Sadly, I can seem to get this to actually work on either XP 32 bit or Windows  7 64bit.

The Client does actually connect, but I can' do anything with Com0-3.

Sorry, I meant to add.

I need to change the com port numbers on an XP box.  Normally you can just going into the device manager and assign new com port numbers, however no joy as there is no advanced tab to allow me to change them.

Is there a registry entry that I can hack?

How can I redo the com ports that the RRC Micro uses?

I appreciate that it takes the 3 in a row it can find, but I need com 1 and com 2 to be less than com 9.

I can go into control panel and delete those not in use, but how can I then have RRC Micro move the com ports back down the list?

Thanks in advance

General discussion / Micro bit stealing default sound

Is there anyway to NOT have the Microbit box change the default sound device to itself?

Every time I plug it in, I have to go back into control panel and undo all the changes it makes.

This is on Win 7 64 bit v1.3.1
