Dennis,

beep and Term means that no connection from the K3/0 to the K3 is available.

I have a working K3/0 and K3 setup. I haven't posted the K3 sceenshots on

yet, but I can do it as soon as time permits.

The Baud rate of the control and the radio unit may be changed by remote access, they must be the same.
On my units, the COM0 baudrate is: 38400 / data bits: 8  / stop bits: 1 / parity: 0 - Off / Com0 Program mode 3 char timeout: 2,
only on control unit: use USB Com Port as COM0: No.

The baud rate on the K3 itself cannot be changed remotely, so try all possible baud rate values, submit and apply changes.

If you have downloaded working both configuration files, you can select in the menu
"import settings from file..."

This works also over remote access.

Hi Christian

Thank you for your reply, I did notice your post and followed Radio side and control. All port forwarding looks Ok within router and connects fine just audio and power.

Also had a look and rewired the jumpers within both boxes hoping it maybe this was causing the problem with no joy yet.

Hope to try get back to the radio sode when i get home over the weekend. Again many thanks for your help.

Configuration, RRC 1258 / K3 Twin Mode with RRC-1258 – CAT not working without K3/0 (COM port in use)

Hello everyone,

I would like to ask for help from someone experienced with RRC setups, especially with Elecraft K3 Twin mode.

I have recently joined a group sharing a remote station. The remote side setup is:
Elecraft K3 + RRC-1258 + K3/0 (Twin mode).

Previously, I successfully used an RRC-Micro + Win4K3 setup.

Now I have purchased an RRC-1258 control unit. I can establish the SIP connection and audio is working, so the basic connection is fine.

However, I cannot get CAT control working between Win4K3 and the remote K3.

I understand that in Twin mode this is not a simple CAT passthrough, but involves K3/0 protocol handling.

On the PC side, I see multiple Microbit virtual COM ports (COM3/4/5). However:

Win4K3 reports the COM port as "in use"
Serial terminal access is blocked when Win4K3 is running
When the port is free, I do not see expected CAT traffic 

From what I understand, the RRC expects responses from a local K3/K3/0 (for example PS; commands), and without these responses the remote side eventually drops or shuts down.

I was also provided with a Python script that emulates responses (PS1;), which suggests that K3/0 emulation is required in this setup.

For reference, my RRC firmware version is 2.7.1 with bootloader version 1.9.

My question is:
What is the correct way to provide CAT control for Win4K3 in K3 Twin mode when no physical K3/K3/0 is present on the control side?

Any guidance on correct COM port usage, routing, or required emulation would be greatly appreciated.

You need to forward the ports in radio's router. Additionally you need to use a ddns or something similar to radio's router if you have a dynamic ip. Feel free to send me an email to sv1dpi@gmail.com for further help as I don't monitor frequently the forum...

I am providing this info after searching these forums for ops with the same problem.

My Internet provider AT&T installed a new BGW320-500 MODEM that was not compatible with my Microbit RRC-1258 remote system. After 1-1/2 weeks of troubleshooting they re-intalled the original BGW210-700 MODEM model and everything started working again.

Responding to my own thread, but I believe I've found the answer:

The hardware in the RRC1258 only supports 802.11B. It does not support 802.11G. The issue with WiFi 7 is that they phased out the old WPA-based security for networks and replaced it with requiring a minimum of WPA2. The wireless card in RRC1258 does not support WPA2. It is constantly failing out trying to use old-style WPA connectivity on the new router. I found a bunch of "mismatched authorization packet" errors in the router logs after enabling additional logging to support this conclusion. 

As far as I can tell, the only way to connect a RRC1258 to a Wifi 7 network is:
1) Don't run Wifi 7 at all so that you can keep running WPA
2) Run the ethernet jack on RRC1258 to a wireless bridge that supports a later version of the Wifi standard

It isn't a great option, but until and unless RemoteRig releases an updated device that has better Wifi support, this is about all there is.

There are several companies that make Wifi 6 and Wifi 7 bridges, so luckily the needed parts seem to be easily available.

Hello,

Has anyone gotten a RRC1258 to work on a Wifi7 network? I've updated my network router to an Asus ZenWiFi BQ16 Pro. Everything else in my network (including 40+ IoT devices) are working fine, but the RRC client device won't connect.

It finds the network when using "network scan", but when telling it to connect, it just blinks the green LED. I didn't change the network name or WPA password when updating the router.

Is there a way to check the logs in the device to determine why it isn't connecting ?

Is there a known issue with Wifi 7 where some setting in the router needs to be changed? I've included the settings as attachments to this post.

After looking into Radio, status page it show

SIP Out port   13000
SIP In port   13000
Audio Out port   1198
Audio In port   13001
Command Out port   62758
Command In port   13002
External SIP In port   13000
External Audio In port   13001
External Cmd In port   13002

In a old image pictures of radio and control side that worked OK. Both radio and the control side settings are a correct copy as before that worked great.

Radio turns on fine but still can't get no Audio from the Kenwood 480 remote. Tried this with both my 480 HX and Sat version.

Hi there can anyone help me out regarding audio problem between RRC boxe's.  I have not worked my Kenwood 480 for some time now. Face and radio side work fine but problem with audio remote.

I have installed it again with same setting's but for some reason there is no incoming audio. I can see both control side at home OK and radio side at remote side fine. I am not sure if maybe it has changed and this could be my problem.

Any help would be grateful to get me online again,
