Problem with Yaesu 857
« on: 2015-02-28, 23:45:49 »
Hello,

I have an IC-7100 with my first remoterig system working but....

I have my second remoterig since 5 days ago and I spent 2 days tryng to install remoterig with Yaesu 857.

RRCīs are new, V8.

I have these points checked:

- Programming is done with the manual. Jmpīs, strapping, etc
- I can see in the status of both RRC that i have connection, all is ok.
- Yellow led in both RRC are ok.
- Cables are checked several times.

When I switch on the radio, the connection is stablished, but the control do not power up. I have no power in the control head.

Any ideas?

Thanks.

David,

Did you change the three UDP ports to a different one from the other RRC? You can't run two systems in parallel using the same port numbers.

The most common problem with FT-857 is that it makes a short circuit when it starts, even many 30 Amp power supply cannot keep  the voltage up. So if you have connected the RRC to the same PS as the radio it will restart. You can see if it restarts on the uptime counter on the info page. Separate PS for the RRC solves the problem

i don't think they are broken, if the relay click in the ft-857 the power on signal is OK. I guess the problem is that the serial data connection is not open after power on so it switch off immediately. Check the cables and the settings, also look at the status page after trying to connect and see if it says something about the problem.

Are you sure you have the cable the right way between the control panel and the RRC TTL connector? If it is the cable supplied by remoterig, the end with a yellow connector must be into the RRC - it won't work the other way around.

Ok you can send it for repair, just put it in a padded envelope and send it to us. We often repair and return next day
