New install, K3-twin, Not connecting, Confused...
« on: 2013-10-21, 15:41:08 »
Hello,

I'm helping to remote a friends station.   Yesterday, he was at the remote end, I was at the shack with the controlled radio.

He purchased the K3-twin kit via Elecraft.  They are full K3s on both ends.

We have everything connected according to the documentation, but no go.  I have the router correctly forwarding ports.

Here's where I'm confused:  I used a port scanner to scan the remote rig box using the local IP.  It only shows port 80 open for HTTP and port 22 open for Telnet.

Ports 11000, 12000 and 5060 are not open.  That would make sense since we cannot connect.

Of course, I can get to the unit's web page, and I can connect to the telnet port -- so it's alive.

Why would these ports not be open??

Here's what the Microbit status page says:

I presume we do not have to set any special menu settings on the K3?

Any help appreciated.

Gerry,

It is hard to see what the problem is without the other RRC's settings as well.

Either way, you should never, ever use port 5060 for SIP, since this port is blocked in many
routers for internal VoIP use.

If you drop me a mail at dj0qn (at) darc.de I can send you my networking checklist to walk you
through the process and find your problem.
