Check the RRC-Micro, then you do not need any RRC or cables, It works the same way as you describe.

If you want to use the RRC-box you must use the USB-cable for the serial ports, there is no plans to remove the need for that

I prefer to use my TS-480 head unit instead of software to control my TCVR hence no RRC-micro in my current setup, eventhough I've considered ordering one as it seems like an excellent product.

Yes If you use the head you must have the RRC-box. There might be some standard product where you can get USB over bluetooth that can be used, I have never looked for it.

Mike, the addition of the Lantronix serial server on the radio side was I think the best solution for me as it did not require additional hardware on the control side (I want to travel light :-)).
