Control Panel TM-D710 and TS-2000
« on: 2010-08-03, 16:04:56 »
Hello,
i'm wondering about the possibility to use the TM-D710 panel display to remote a TS-2000 via the RemoteRIG (instead a RC-2000 display)
I've read that also the TM-D710 panel display can be used with a TS-2000 but i with no evidence of this.

Any one had an experience using this combination?

Thank you.

The other way around works for sure, see page 54 of the RC-2000 manual:

"CONCERNING THE TM-D700A/E PANEL
The RC-2000 control panel can be used in place of the
TM-D700A/E panel. Switch the TM-D700A/E OFF then
remove the TM-D700A/E panel. Plug the RC-2000
panel and press  (POWER). The RC-2000 panel
automatically detects the TM-D700A/E transceiver and
will operate the same as the original TM-D700A/E panel."

Thank you Mitch for you suggestion.

If you are talking about the use of the ARCP 2000 or HRD in order to remote the TS-2000 with RRigs, i agree with you.

As i own a Kenwood TM-D710 my goal would be to use the front panel of the 710 with TS-2000 (like the TS-480 do).

I think that both Front Panel are quite similar and so i was wondering if some mods are necessary use it with my RRigs.

Hi Franco,

It really wasn't a suggestion, I was just quoting from the manual. Since it works one way, it may work the other. Just try it and see.

Hello

I have investigated on that and I'm quite sure that the TM-D710 panel will NOT work with the TS-RC2000

The TM-D700 works if it has a new enough serial number. I hav tried this and it worked. But: the panel was damaged and after a substitution of an IC (I guess with an older firmware), it didn't work any more with the TS-2000 (no problem with the TM-D700)

Some info here:

I hope this helps

The TM-D710 panel does not work, because it is technically different. The main difference is that Kenwood
moved the GPS modul into the panel.

And here is a video from me where it does NOT work:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w7TgQ17l_wE&feature=related

TMD700 is a G2.0 with serial nr. 50900039

But the question was about the TMD710!

Control Panel Kenwood TM-D700 and TS-2000

Running a Kenwood TM-D700E front with the serial number 4050050 and G2.0 firmware. Working for the Kenwood TS-2000 and TM-D700E in combination with the RRC-1258MKII's.
When i put the front unit from the TM-D700 4 pin RJ12 4P4P TTL cable in the back of the TS-2000 the TS-2000 jumps on after pushing the ON button.

This Kenwood TM-D700E front unit got the same capability as the Kenwood RC-2000.

I got this radio with the G 2.0 firmware already inside.

Just to let you know.
