Flex Radio Ver 1.4 6000 Series Use with Remote Rig

Hello - Flexradio now has the software version 1.4 that allows communication thru a LAN in you home. I am wondering how remote rig could be configured to communicate with the native flex radio SmartSDR and allow me to connect when I am on my many business trips.

If that uses native IP, then it is not compatible with the RRC, which uses serial ports to connect to the radio.
I am also not really sure of what benefit the RRC would bring, beyond CW paddle support.
