Hi

No that kind of cables do not work as I have tried to explain on the web. Pirate cables like that steal power from unused pins in the PC RS-232 connector, but the RRC do not have those pins. If you want to use that you must make a cable in between where you can connect power to the pins that it use for powering.

Hi Neil

You have to get an i/f with its own power. But if you want to open your existing cable and you can easily feed the i/f with external power.

Your cable looks something like the schematics on this page: http://www.qsl.net/g3vgr/civ.html

There you can see which pin(s) you have to feed with 12V DC.

Otherwise, Icom has it's own i/f CT17 and there are other out there as well.

Good Luck!

Thanks for the support on the forums got it working by putting 12v to supply the ct17 on pins 4 and 5. Hope the software guys will include a tune button in the near future :-)
