Using FT8 and JT65 over remoterig with IC7100
« on: 2018-04-12, 18:29:25 »
Hi,

I have my IC7100 connected remotely using remoterig and all is well for Phone but what about digital modes like FT8?

At my house, I have a radio connected to my PC running Windows, HRD, WSJT-X and I run my digital modes from that without any issue.

I have also connected my remote radio (IC7100) to HRD and HRD can operate the radio but how do I configure it so I can use digital modes?

Remote station is operated via RRC-1258MkII and CI-V Interface at the PC end (My house), I have a PC running HRD and WSJT-X and the connection between the PC and the 1258MkII is via USB at the remote site the only connections are the 1258MkII,m network cables and the power and aerial.

What do I need to do to run digital modes over this setup?

I'm open to any suggestions.

Hi, this was answered previously here on forum: www.remoterig.com/forum/index.php?topic=4732.msg22988#msg22988

You need to get the audio to and from you control head of your IC-7100 from and to your local control pc where you have WSJT-X running. I use a Signalink USB for that. SignaLink to the Mic jack in the IC-7100 front panel using a standard Ethernet cable. My SignaLink is strapped accordingly by comparing the pin output of the Mic jack and the SignaLink, see www.tigertronics.com/sl_wirebm.htm#ICOM

I have tried several times and the signallink works fine in the radio back mic jack - but in the controlhead mic input I can't get any TX - I do get RCV and good decodes.  It will go into TX but no power out?  I am sure it is a setting but so far I have not found out the correct combination.
I have the CI-V link on the radio side COM2- and then COM2 on the control unit to the computer - no problem controllng the radio with HRD.  I also can plug the signalink into the back of the radio and get tx and rcv fine, but when I move the signalink RJ45 t the control head mic jack it does everything but TX. since it work in the radio I figure i have the jumper correct in the signalink.  There is no info that the jack in the radio is different than the control? What am I missing?

Hi

you have to set RTP audio Tx = continuously in the control-rrc otherwise audio is not feed throug the system, The RRC doesn't know that you are transmitting as the PTT is sent over CI-V

Were you able to make it work?  I've tried everything with my 7100, I am able to decode and the radio goes into transmit but no audio goes out.

You have to set RTP audio tx to continously so audio is always tranferred from the control-RRC to the Radio-RRC. That's because the control RRC do not know that you want to transmit when PTT is send over CI-V
