SIP ALG
« on: 2011-03-04, 11:56:10 »
Jan,

I see a lot of warnings to have SIP ALG turned off in the router. I have
never read what the effect is when it is turned on. Could you please tell
me what problem it causes?

I am asking, because I am trying to debug an installation where I do not
have direct router access. I don't want to request a change unless it is
necessary. The problem is audio breaking-up at irregular intervals, even
though the line is very fast. Maybe SIP ALG is the problem.

Thanks & 73,
Mitch DJ0QN / K7DX

Hi

I haven't seen a description fa exact what SIP ALG does but when analyzing with wireshark you can see that SIP ALG distroys the sip messages, so it will not work at all. The situation you describe is something else.
