RRC1258-MkII IP addresses on diferent LANs
« on: 2024-11-06, 20:58:31 »
Hello

after many years using RRC1258-MkII on the same network (with an internet link from my house to the remote site), now I will move to Starlink on the remote site.

My network use 192.168.0.x addresses, and my remoterig boxes use 192.168.0.169 and 192.168.0.170

My new network on the remote site, with Starlink and a router, use 192.168.10.x

So my question is how I need to setup the remoterig and routers to have remoterig working? With 192.168.0.x on the home and 192.168.10.x on the remote side

thanks in advance

Jorge

Hi

Starlink standard plans cannot be used at the Radio end as they use CGNAT, Only business plans with fixed IP can be used, but they are expensive

The only option is to setup a VPN from radio site av to control site. As SL is unlimited data it's possible, You can use a SMS switch to active the link remotely also

Mike

I remember that sometime ago when my internet link was broken, I use a Movistar router, it worked, I just needed to setup a dydns to have it working

I will ask a friend to set it up for me.

thanks!

Hi

Dyndns does not help against CGNAT https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Carrier-grade_NAT

If your provider does not set up a public dynamic or fixed IP so that the radio site can be reached from the outside the only solution is a VPN.

Have a look at this link from HB9BLA:
